Yes, even Comic Sans. Print | Spring 2022 Yes, even Comic Sans.
The Challenge
For this project, we were instructed to create a deck of 52 cards, each card focusing on a different font. The cards had to utilize the alphabet and needed to maintain a consistent design throughout. We were also instructed to print out and trim each card.

The Big Idea
I wanted to include and emphasize some of the “uglier” fonts with my card deck. I also wanted each letter to match with a font that started with the same letter.
The Road to Success
The road to my final design involved having to go through several design iterations before I finalized what my deck of cards would look like. Once I designed the right layout, it was relatively simple to adjust each card for each font. The font finding process was fun, as I was able to discover several fonts that I still use to this day.
Issues on the Way
There were several issues that I faced while creating this project. One of the larger issues I faced was getting a good layout and making sure each different font would fit in the layout. Other issues included finding the right fonts and creating the patterns on the backs of the cards.
The End Result
The 52 font cards that I created do a great job at displaying a wide array of fonts as well as displaying their unique characters. Having to print each card out as well as trim them was a welcome change from the primarily digital work of previous projects that I worked on.
