Spring 2023 Blurring the lines.
The Challenge

With this project we were required to take five images: one showing a well lit subject, one showing a silhouette, and three capturing some type of motion. We also had to shoot each of these manually.
The Big Idea
Once I was assigned this project, I immediately knew I wanted to photograph cars driving by at night for a long exposure shot. The rest of my pictures came to me during the process of going out and taking photos.
The Road to Success
Heavily inspired by long exposures of highways at night that I’d seen previously, I almost immediately went to my nearest road and highway and started taking photos. My other photos weren’t as planned out, especially my well-lit portrait (top right), which I took on the very last day to work on this project.
Issues on the Way
The main issue I had with this project was overcoming my insecurity over taking photos for projects in public. Some of the other issues I faced for this project were coming up with ideas for pictures, equipment constraints, and time constraints.
The End Result
I am very happy with how this project has turned out. I’ve always loved photography and I made sure I took this project as an opportunity to improve my photography skills.
