El Lujo no es nuevo, tampoco es viejo. Su relación con el tiempo es infinita porque es atemporal. De él nacen las tendencias que inspiran, transforman, renacen y se vuelven parte de la cultura universal. Es una vivencia ancestral asociada a valores superiores, pero a su vez básicos, autorreferenciales y de contacto con el placer, inherentes a la naturaleza humana.

Luxury is not new, nor is it old. Its relationship with time is infinite because it is timeless. From it arise the trends that inspire, transform, rejuvenate, and become part of universal

ancestral experience associated with higher yet fundamental values, self-referential and pleasurable, inherent to human nature.

El lujo siempre tuvo que ver con la valoración del tiempo, los procesos artesanales, la selección de las fibras más nobles, el savoir faire, la experiencia, la belleza. Todo aquello a lo que hoy llamamos nuevo lujo, es la raíz del lujo.

Luxury has always been connected to the valuation of time, artisanal processes, the selection of the noblest fibers, savoir faire, experience, and beauty. All that which we now call new luxury is the root of luxury.

Han cambiado las formas, pero no la esencia. Acaso, el tiempo que lleva tejer un paño de tweed en el telar, ¿puede ser menor? El crecimiento y secado de una hoja del más exquisito habano, ¿puede acelerarse? Recostarse y acariciar una alfombra mullida de lana tejida a mano con técnica oriental, ¿no es una experiencia sensorial que lleva más de 2000 años? Los ejemplos son interminables.

The forms have changed, but not the essence. Can the time it takes to weave a tweed fabric on a loom be shortened? Can the growth and drying of the finest tobacco leaf for a cigar be accelerated? Isn't reclining and caressing a handwoven woolen Oriental rug a sensory experience that spans over 2000 years? The examples are endless.

Claramente el lujo se ha resignificado porque es en sí mismo motor de cambio y evolución. Su contradicción fundacional de ser tradición y vanguardia a la vez, es una provocación permanente a los sentidos y al placer. Es el alimento de la ilusión y del sueño de los dioses plasmado en objetos, en momentos sublimes, en arte: todo traducido al idioma de la belleza.

Clearly, luxury has been redefined because it is itself a driver of change and evolution. Its foundational contradiction of being both tradition and avant-garde is a constant provocation to the senses and pleasure. It is the sustenance of illusion and the dream of the gods manifested in objects, in sublime moments, in art: all translated into the language of beauty.

Hoy el gran desafío es preservar esa herencia preciosa que la tecnología no ha podido igualar.

Es entonces cuando la riqueza de los oficios ancestrales, transmitidos de generación en generación, son tesoros en extinción rescatados, y resignificado su valor, por las grandes marcas del mundo como el caso de CHANEL con la creación de le19M. Un espacio único creado para albergar once talleres de oficios con sus más de seiscientos artesanos, una galería de arte en la que a partir de septiembre se podrá visitar la muestra de la diseñadora mexicana Carla Fernández llamada El futuro es Hecho a Mano, y un café abierto al público en donde se respira creatividad, innovación y respeto por el legado ancestral.

Today, the great challenge is to preserve that precious heritage that technology has not been able to match. It is then when the richness of ancestral crafts, passed down from generation to generation, are rescued as endangered treasures, and their value is redefined by the world's leading brands, such as the case of CHANEL with the creation of le19M. A unique space created to house eleven workshops of crafts with their more than six hundred artisans, an art gallery where, starting in September, the exhibition by Mexican designer Carla Fernández called "The Future is Handmade" will be showcased, and a café open to the public where creativity, innovation, and respect for ancestral legacy are palpable.

Grandes tesoros son recuperados y recreados, también, en los más importantes coliseos del mundo. Desde sus talleres se autoabastecen de vestuarios superlativos para ópera y ballet, escenografías imponentes, telones majestuosos y hasta la preservación de sus edificios a cargo de sus restauradores que día a día mantienen el valor histórico intacto. Basta con hacer una visita guiada al fabuloso Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires para comprobarlo. Porque en estos espacios de arte y creación no sólo se trabaja, sino que se enseña e incentiva a que talentos jóvenes y sensibles encuentren un modo de expresión, de realización y de trabajo cuyo valor crece día a día.

El lujo es un tiempo sin edad, nos dice presente todos los días y nos invita a compartir su eternidad. ¡Disfrutémoslo, es todo nuestro!

Great treasures are also recovered and recreated in the most important theaters of the world. From their workshops, they self-supply with superb costumes for opera and ballet, imposing scenery, majestic backdrops, and even the preservation of their buildings entrusted to their restorers who daily maintain their historical value intact. A guided tour of the fabulous Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires is enough to witness this. Because in these spaces of art and creation, not only work is done, but teaching and encouragement are provided for young and sensitive talents to find a means of expression, fulfillment, and work whose value grows every day.
