Our appointment with Eva had been scheduled several months in advance on the red carpet of the Flamin' Hot Avant Premiere in Miami. Of course, there were many expectations and preparations on the part of the Chicas Guapas team, including stylist Caro Fannuchi designing a hairstyle specifically inspired by the movie, featuring a glittering red flame motif, cleverly referencing the film's title. We arrived at our appointment several minutes before the agreed time, sporting a Hollywood look befitting the international star we were about to interview. Upon entering the theater, we bumped into Eva in sneakers, accompanied by her styling and publicity team, having just landed from Los Angeles. That was our first encounter, incredibly casual, and we were asked to wait for a few minutes as she was going to get herself formally prepared for our interview. Gloria and Emilio Estefan also made their presence felt to support Eva, alongside Brazilian influencer Camila Cohelo, who donned an elegant black dress with side cutouts.

Y finalmente, llega nuestro turno ‘Chicas Guapas!’ exclama Eva Longoria, y comienza nuestra entrevista con una de las actrices y directoras de ascendencia latina más cotizadas en Hollywood:

And not many people know your directorial side. But after a two-hour meeting with the movie producer, you confidently said, 'I'm going to improve your movie.' You created your opportunity and won the director's role over twelve candidates. Congratulations on that!

Eva Longoria: Thank you, I was really determined to be the only person who could tell this story. And I really wanted to make sure it was told correctly, because our stories are rarely told in the media. But who tells the stories really matters.

And I'd love to know, what do you consider your strengths as a director?

Eva Longoria: I think obviously working with the actors, being an actress, I communicate well with what I need from them. You know? What the shots are about, what we're trying to achieve... And I think that's probably my 'superpower.' But I'm also very assertive, so that helps.

And Flamin' Hot is a very inspiring film. I would like to know what was the most difficult scene to shoot?

Eva Longoria: Oh! So many challenging takes! I mean, our biggest obstacle during filming was building the factory. When you see the factory in the movie, none of that actually existed. Everything was constructed by our production designers. And besides, it was the 1980s, so factories looked very different back then. We wanted everything to function properly. We wanted the actors to be able to interact, and that was undoubtedly the greatest challenge. But we accomplished it brilliantly. The result is beautiful.

Congratulations, you're a female director telling a man's story, and that's an admirable achievement in Hollywood.

Eva Longoria: Yes, that's true. Someone mentioned that to me, and I had never thought of it that way. I never thought of telling a male story from a female perspective. However, Richard, the real Richard, owes everything to Judy, his wife. And he was very happy that a Latina director was helming this film.

I love that. And we're Chicas Guapas, and I can't help but ask you, what makes you a Chica Guapa?

Eva Longoria: Oh, definitely, I believe it's my confidence. Yes, I feel more confident when I have knowledge in a set of skills or a topic, when I know what I'm doing and what I'm saying. That makes me feel confident. I think that's beautiful.
