WARPING Then the numbers of warp threads are calculated according to the width of the fabric needed and the count of the yarn, which is multiplied and extra yarn ends are added for the selvedge. The machine used is called a Warping Drum which is a huge cylinder with markings for length on it, the yarns pass through a reed before getting wounded on the drum to ensure zero tangling. The desired length of the wrapped yarn on the warping drum is then unwounded on the weaver’s beam to be put into the loom Warping is done to prepare a weaving beam which is then used to set up the loom.
