Crafts

Himachal is home to a large population of craftsmen. The crafts of the state range from wood carving to weaving with silver jewellery, basket weaving, and knitting in between. The most widely practiced is weaving on handlooms using handspun yarn to make shawls, pattus and caps. It is practiced in almost every household and children are taught the art of weaving from a very young age. Women of the house weave in between their daily errands during their day.
