thank you

Dear Fellow Alumni, On behalf of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, thank you for your continued support of Charlotte Catholic. CCHS depends on contributions of time, talent, and treasure from our many donors and volunteers, to whom we are very grateful. As a member of the CCHS Class of ’91 and father of three, I have experienced CCHS as a student, alumnus, parent, and now parent of a young alumna. In recent years, I have enjoyed reconnecting as a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. It has been a privilege to see CCHS grow over the years. I truly enjoy the legacy and alumni gatherings each year, and I hope you’ll mark your calendars to join us for this fall’s events. Please save the dates for this year’s alumni events, and watch your mail and email for more details. The 2018-19 school year was filled with excitement about our future growth. Last spring, after decades of planning, CCHS kicked off a capital campaign to raise funds for a longawaited expansion at CCHS. This project will benefit all CCHS students as well as the extended community. Plans are in place for a new Fine Arts Center and, when visual and performing arts classes are relocated to the new building, existing spaces in the current school will be renovated for classroom use and athletics. We need everyone’s help to achieve our $8 million fundraising goal. CCHS is inviting all past, current, and future CCHS families, along with our alumni and extended family, to prayerfully consider making a meaningful gift. We know this is above and beyond your annual gift to the Alumni Fund, and I hope you will consider being a part of this next chapter in our history. You can learn more about the expansion at https://www. playingyourpart.org/. CCHS alumni remain an integral part of CCHS. Through gifts to the 2018-19 Annual Alumni Fund, the CCHS Alumni Association was able to support our students through Homecoming Events, Senior Awards and the Alumni Scholarships. In addition to helping to meet the needs of the school, we bring alumni together to socialize and stay connected to their classmates and to all fellow Cougars. Thank you to the many donors who contributed to the CCHS Alumni Association last year. We rely on your contributions, and ask that you support the Alumni Fund when called upon. We are grateful for your support. Together, we can continue to make a difference for Charlotte Catholic. Sincerely,

Garett Trumpower ’91, President CCHS Alumni Association

Phylissa Greeley ’14, who majored in exercise science at Appalachian State University, was featured on the ASU College of Health Sciences website for being in the right place at the right time. On her way to work, she heard shouts of “Call 911,” and rushed to help a man who was on the ground, surrounded by students. Joined by another exercise science major, Phylissa performed CPR until the ambulance arrived and EMTs took over. The man survived, and she later learned he is Rev. Rob Lee, a lecturer in the Communications department at ASU. Phylissa was surprised that none of the 20+ students surrounding Rev. Lee knew CPR, and helped initiate a College of Health Sciences program that will certify all faculty and students in the College in bystander CPR.
