A Letter from the President
Dear CCHS Family,
I am pleased to present to you our annual magazine which highlights the 2023-24 school year at Charlotte Catholic. As we reflect on our successes across our campus and throughout our community, I am excited to share important news about Charlotte Catholic High School.
I am honored to begin my new role as the first president of Charlotte Catholic High School. I have a deep love for CCHS and I am grateful for the opportunity to focus on the long-term strategic planning and growth of our school.
Over the past year, we worked hard to successfully revise our mission and vision, and finalize a 2024-29 strategic plan, a collaborative effort involving our diocesan leadership, school administration, leadership council, and key stakeholders. This strategic plan is designed to enhance the educational, extracurricular, and spiritual growth of our Charlotte Catholic community. It reflects our ongoing commitment to living our mission, expanding our Catholic identity, and fostering opportunities for worship, prayer, service, and fellowship.
As part of this initiative, we are actively exploring ways to improve and expand our existing facilities. We’re in the process of developing a secure outdoor common area for students, as well as upgrading our media center and science labs.
The success of our strategic plan relies on the support of the CCHS Annual Fund, Together for Catholic. We encourage you to engage with our vision and contribute to this effort. Your support is vital, and with 100% participation from our current families, and support from alumni and friends, we can continue to build and strengthen the legacy of Charlotte Catholic High School.

PROTECT THE TRADITION
Tradition is a system of beliefs or behaviors passed down within a group of people with special significance. In 1955, the Charlotte Catholic tradition was set by hardworking, dedicated, and faithful young men and women. They set the standards and values that our student athletes embody today. It is a process that the student-athlete learns that, “it’s more about us than me.” For a Charlotte Catholic athlete, this starts when they enter 9th grade and play on a team. These teams teach student-athletes the tradition and values of success. This is where they learn to Protect the Tradition.

The CCHS Theatre program is thriving with over 100 students contributing to the production. Their involvement showcases their talent, dedication, and hard work. Together, they have shown trust in each other and in the belief that God has given us everything we need to succeed.

2023-24 brought so much to celebrate! Our students are thriving alongside our dedicated faculty and staff who continue to raise CCHS to new heights with the support of our parents and alumni.
As a parent, I have witnessed firsthand the generosity of this community and its impact on Charlotte Catholic High School. The investment of time, talent and treasure made by our students, faculty, parents, alumni, grandparents, staff, corporate partners, and friends continues to make a difference.
The 2023-24 Annual Fund – Together for Catholic – raised nearly $350,000 to help meet needs of our school that tuition does not provide. Additional leadership donations provided specific gifts to support the Teacher Impact Fund, tuition assistance and more. The 2024 Gala, still our largest annual fundraising event and a great night for all, raised $172,000.
Thank you to all 725 donors to Charlotte Catholic last school year! The Year in Review highlights some of what you have made possible. It is also our opportunity to recognize and thank you.
We are at a pivotal point in our school’s history – honoring the traditions while embracing our future. We look forward to working with you along with CCHS’s first president, Kurt Telford, as we come together to build upon a strong foundation, advance our strategic plan and further develop a culture of giving to ensure a bright future for Charlotte Catholic.

The Annual Fund, Together for Catholic (Annually July 1 - June 30)
Money raised through the Annual Fund helps meet the needs that tuition does not cover including, Teacher Grants, Tuition Assistance, Campus Upgrades, and the Teacher Impact Fund.
The Gala (Annually in February or March)
The Gala is an annual fundraiser for Charlotte Catholic. Revenue is generated through sponsors, ticket sales, raffle, auction, and direct gifts. The Gala funds specific needs that are determined annually.
Restricted/Designated Donations (As needed)
Donations directed to a specific fund, program, or designated need of the school.
Endowment Funds (Ongoing)
Honors a loved one and helps secure the financial future of CCHS. Distributions fund various needs, including tuition assistance.
Planned Gifts (Ongoing)
Support the long-term sustainability of CCHS. Funding is directed per the donor’s intent.
The CCHS Foundation

The following endowment funds are held with the Foundation of the Diocese of Charlotte. A defined portion of the funds may be distributed each year while the principal investment is held so that the vision of the donors will continue to make a difference for Charlotte Catholic High School.

Charlotte Catholic High School Endowment Fund: Established in 2021 to provide for general needs of CCHS.
Lee McGuiness Endowment Fund: Established in 2020 to provide for general needs of CCHS.
Clark G. Ross Scholarship Endowment Fund: Established in 2015 to provide tuition assistance for high school students from Catholic parishes in Mecklenburg, Iredell, Cabarrus, and Rowan counties.
Michael Sullivan Endowment Fund: Established in 2011 in loving memory of Michael Sullivan '03 to support a college scholarship for a graduating student.
CCHS Alumni Association Board Discretionary Endowment Fund: Established in 2003 by the CCHS Alumni Association Board of Directors for the general needs of Charlotte Catholic High School.
American Schlafhorst Scholarship Endowment Fund: Established in 1997 for tuition assistance scholarships for two CCHS students.
CCHS Alumni Association Scholarship Endowment Fund: Established in 1997 by the CCHS Alumni Association Board of Directors to provide a scholarship or scholarships for graduating seniors.
Sister Paulette Williams Scholarship Endowment Fund: Established in 1999 to provide scholarships for graduating seniors of CCHS.
Bryant McDermott Endowment Fund: Established in 2022 to provide support for CCHS and Holy Trinity.
Heidi Hogan Bell Memorial Endowment Fund: Established in 2023 to support general needs of CCHS.
Additionally, the CCHS Foundation supports needs of CCHS with the following funds: Kara Kloiber Memorial Fund: Providing needs-based tuition assistance. CCHS Foundation Funds: For general purposes and teacher support at the request of the principal and approval of the CCHS Foundation Board of Directors.
GALA 2024
Charlotte Catholic’s annual gala raised an incredible $172,000 for the Annual Fund, Together for Catholic!
Each year, this event brings together more than 300 parents, alumni, and friends for a fun-filled evening. This year was no exception. Guests enjoyed delicious food and drinks, great conversations, and a soundtrack of live music provided by the Bad Daddies. A carefully curated silent auction featuring vacation homes, concert and sporting tickets, shopping excursions, and more, kept guests engaged throughout the evening.
Dr. Greg Monroe, Superintendent of Catholic Schools, kicked off the live portion of the program, drawing the golden ticket raffle winner, sharing updates on the steady growth of Catholic schools in Charlotte, and his gratitude for our generous CCHS community. This year featured an amazing video created by CCHS graduate, Bridget Burke O’Boyle ‘09, allowing guests to hear directly from students about how donations from The Annual Fund, Together for Catholic, positively impact their experience at CCHS. The live auction and final appeal elevated the energy and quickly raised much needed funds for our school. The evening’s fun continued with dancing and late-night snacks.

Nicole Radenmacher ‘96, received the prestigious Arts Council for Long Beach’s California Creative Corps Grant for the 2023-24 year. She will be working with Care Closet LBC.
