development

While exploring the hinge, I was developing the fabric side of my product. This is why I the drawings still have previous hinge versions depicted. I was trying to incorporate as much data from my survey as possible, designing for 8 cards, a few notes and tickets and not adding extra storage for coins. As well as this, I incorporated ideas from my initial wallet concepts. Furthermore, I wanted to create a 2 tome aesthetic, with the green and black desserto fabric that I ordered. Looking at the fabric in person, I can defiantly use the unique properties of each different type to my advantage. The black desserto ‘stiff’ is thicker, stiffer as well as has a black, polycotton backing. This seems like it would be a very tough material, and would be suitable for use on the outside of the wallet. The green desserto ‘knit’ seems to be more supple, as well as has a contrasting back colour. This would make a good card pocket, as it would be easier to get cards in and out of. However, this could be a problem in manufacture, as when folded, the desserto thick material could be difficult to sew with a normal sewing machine due to the thickness of the material.
