proto 5
final design
My final design compassed everything I had learnt from my 5 prototypes, both about the materials and the processes involved in working with them. It included the card pockets first seen in prototype 3 on each side, with the card in it butting up against the rivets in the side in order to be as easy to access as possible. I used the idea of wooden dowels to hold the hinge together, but this time blended this into the black of the hinge housing using a pocco paint marker. This worked well and meant that the dowels were disguised in the wallet. I used the inseam and divider method of creating pockets, seen in prototype 5, however did not oversew the bottom of the wallet, as I feared that this would be too difficult to keep straight and of acceptable quality. This would result in a thicker wallet, but I decided to live with this compromise in order for an easier manufacture,
