Prototype manufacture and user testing of ideas 2 and 5.

Prototyped out of cheap, on hand materials - 110gsm paper and scotch tape. To improve the quality of the proto, I could have used masking tape and varied the thickness of card to match my intention. These prototypes came out better than expected, and allowed me to play with the designed mechanism. The ‘pop’ function of idea 2 was unexpectedly functional, with it easily opening to a quadrilateral shape when pressed from the top and bottom, with the cards in the card slots acting as a beam to press against. In user testing, this wallet was fairly well received, however concerns were raised over the fact that to take a single note out of the back, you would have to take all the other notes out with it. This is an inherent design flaw with the idea. Idea 5 was fairly well received, however users were slightly confused as to the use of the quick access pocket / coin pouch. However once it was explained to them they commented that they’d use it primarily for train tickets. This shows that if continued with, this part of the wallet could come with a card in it outlining how the pocket is meant to work.
