PDS
limitations
Within the spirit of this project, I feel that it is OK to create arbitrary limitations in order to create a more interesting design, as well as make the project as fun as possible whilst keeping the project on track. As well as this I want to impose criteria that will differentiate my product from others whilst still conforming to the basic aesthetic of the PDE collection.

Material Limitations:
• No use of jesmonite. Whist I think jesmonite is a great material and there have been excellent precious PDE collection products,
I feel that the material has been used to its limits and other materials can be explored. • Use of as many recycled/ recyclable materials as possible. As explored previously, luxury could mean spending money, time and effort on limiting the costs of the product to the earth. • As few different materials as possible. This will keep the product’s aesthetic in line with the
PDE collection as well as lower the difficulty of manufacture.
Design Limitations:
• Think of manufacture for batch production during the design stage. Each element should be as easy to make in a small batch as possible, looking to both cut cost of manufacture as well as time and complexity.
Time Limitations:
• This is a short project, especially with the manufacture stage included for a two month deadline. This means that the design stage will be short, and important decisions will have to be made often with less information than would be wanted. This should be considered and timekeeping should be a focus.
So What?
Looked at some limitations I can bring into this project. Outlined some materials that I want to use, as well as some I don’t.
What Now?
From this build a PDS that I can use to generate design ideas. Create a time planning model. Possibly in the form of a GANTT chart.
