I’ve always loved small, tactile objects such as wallets. They’re an item that is interacted with on a daily basis. A step towards a more sustainable future would be items we interact with daily not being made of animal products, rather use as much recycled and waste material as possible. This would normalise alternative materials and push people to think differently as to the environmental impacts of other choices in their lives, such as what they eat and how they travel. New, modern materials can not only mimic but exceed the tactility and longevity of traditional materials such as leather and cotton. Within this idea, I will explore the world of alternate materials, as well as look at objects within my daily life that could be transformed. Pinatex A material made from by-products of the pineapple industry. The texture of the material is similar to leather, and takes coatings and textures easily. £45 for 1x1.55m

V-Textile The name VEGEA comes from the combination of VEG (Vegan) and GEA (Mother Earth). It was chosen to identify next generation of alternative materials to totally oil-based and animal-derived ones.

Desserto Sustainable and environmentally friendly organic material made of Nopal cactus, also known as the prickly pear.
