CHADA CHILES I received my fitness training certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, (NASM) and I’m currently working toward obtaining a cycling certification for group fitness. Furthermore, I’m enrolled at SBCC as a Kinesiology Major, where I have the opportunity to intern at the Life Fitness Center at the student level. My dedication and drive will always meet the specific needs for every YMCA member as I enjoy all types of workouts, especially those that emphasize joint care, flexibility, and stretching.

ELISA MUNOZ With a Bachelor’s of Kinesiology, Elisa Munoz’s emphasis is on Applied Fitness and Active Lifestyle’s Development. Certified as a personal trainer with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), Elisa also specializes in Cancer Survivor Physical Activity—a certification she earned through the YMCA’s Livestrong Program. Elisa believes in creating exercise programs that are functionally executed to target movement performance, and physical developments of strength, stability and stamina. With experience training people suffering from cancer, pregnancy, post-partum and diabetes, she is always happy to help out members, and share a smile, too.

JANINE IVANELLI The best part of my job as a strength and conditioning coach is seeing people transform their lives, live more healthfully and pass their new lifestyle (through example) onto their loved ones. I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and a registered yoga teacher. I design programs for the unique needs and goals of our members, including athletic training, relief from lower back pain, joint and arthritis issues, and nutrition and weight management, too. I share your commitment to your health, including increasing strength, cardiovascular fitness and flexibility training, leading you to a stronger, more flexible body, and a healthy, more vibrant lifestyle.

KAREN ROBISCOE I’m a longtime Santa Barbara local who writes a regular fitness column for the Montecito Journal. Enthusiastic, energetic, and outgoing, I’ve earned my fitness training credential through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Currently, I’m working toward gaining a certification for Corrective Exercise. I love working with people of all ages, and have a strong connection with the senior population. I’m extremely passionate about my work and will always go the extra mile in making sure your goals come first, as well as making those goals attainable for you.

KELLY TURK It is with great enthusiasm that I share my passion for fitness through personal training and group exercise at our amazing Santa Barbara YMCA! While the majority of my time here is spent personal training with my awesome clients, I thoroughly enjoy teaching Cycle, Cardio Circuit, and Livestrong classes each week. My certifications include the American Council on Exercise (ACE) Certified Personal Trainer; Schwinn Cycling Instructor Certification; Livestrong Instructor Certification; YMCA Group Exercise Certification; CPR & AED, and First Aid. My specialties include HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), Core Strength Training, Circuit Training, Free Weights, Senior Fitness, and Balance Training. I would like to help others make exercise an integral part of their lives, and teach them how to improve their quality of life through fitness.

MARK DANIEL A veteran gym-goer and athletic competitor, Mark is certified through the American Aerobic Association/International Sports Medicine Association. He has been working out for 20 years, and training people professionally for 10. Specializing in strength training, performance enhancement, and weight loss, Mark strives to teach proper form in order to maximize the results of his client’s efforts, and as he says, “Help maintain motivation toward building a healthier you.” Mark’s inspiration to train stems from a solid foundation, and stays as strong as he is by a genuine desire to help people achieve their personal fitness goals—and at the same time prevent injuries and plateaus that set you back.

MIKE GENOVESE I’m an aspiring personal trainer studying for my National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certification. I specialize in weight loss, endurance training, and have a strong background in free weight and fixed weight exercises. I’ve personally lost over 100lbs, whittled my waistline by twenty inches, and lowered my overall body fat percentage by 25%.

MORGAN CINTRON At this time, I am working toward achieving my personal training certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). My areas of focus are strength and conditioning, circuit training, and hypertrophy training. Most of my experience has been through group fitness, teaching classes such as boot camp, cardio kickboxing, and circuit training, both indoors and outdoors. With my extensive fitness background and dedication to helping our members reach their goals, I am committed to meeting the needs of each individual.

ANNE FLETT I have always been athletic, and was a competitive swimmer for many years, but it was not until I embraced nutrition that my life really changed. When my chronic pain was at its worst and I was told that I'd be a candidate for a hip replacement, I decided prescription drugs weren't for me, did a lot of research, changed my diet and my entire life changed along with it. With the right diet and exercise program my pain disappeared, I dropped 20 pounds with ease, and my energy levels skyrocketed. Aging is not easy but with the right mindset, good nutrition and the right workout program we can do so in a healthy way. Certified through the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), I want to help you live the best version of your life there is!

TAYLOR MAGALLANGES My passion for health and wellness started in 2010 when I started working out with a personal trainer. I found that with a healthy lifestyle and regular workout routines my life has completely changed for the better. Through fitness, my goal is to help others attain a healthier, well-rounded lifestyle. Along with my certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), I have also taken many classes at SBCC including Advanced Athletic Injuries, Fundamentals of Exercise Testing and Fitness Instruction, and Concepts in Health and Physical Fitness. I am currently studying Kinesiology at Westmont College in order to obtain my NASMPerformance Enhancement Specialization (NASMPES). If you see me around, give me a high five!
