PRESIDENT | CEO UPDATE
PRESIDENT | CEO
National Small Business Week takes place this year April 30th through May 6. The goal of this week is to bring attention to the small businesses and entrepreneurs within our community that have played a big role in bringing new ideas to life and growing our economy. Please support your local small businesses not only during National Small Business Week, but the entire year! Did you know:
Terri Kimble CEO
Small Business Week is not just about buying local or supporting our small businesses. It’s a time to encourage dreams, to support the unspoken efforts of the would-be entrepreneur. There’s someone in your community who’s been thinking about opening a business. Small Business Week celebrates the people who have, and the people who will.
I also would like to Thank NXP Semiconductors for hosting our April education and workforce panel, followed by a window tour of the NXP factory. We had a great turn out and learned a lot about NXP and all they have to offer. Did you know that 50% of our US fabs are in Chandler and 50% of NXP company revenue is automotive with a huge play in EVs?
I hope you will join the Chamber at the 36th Chandler Chamber Community Awards. This is one of my favorite events of the year. It truly is a privilege to honor our incredible businesses, educators, public servants, and community. Join us on June 1st at Gila River Wild Horse Pass Resort and Casino to honor and celebrate the success within our Chandler Community! We have great entertainment, delicious food, and an engaging award presentations that you won’t want to miss this!
There is plenty coming up, so be sure to check out our website or our newsletters for events and details.

@terri_kimble
There are 32.5 million small businesses in the US
Small businesses account for 44% of US economic activity
77% of small business owners say they feel optimistic about the future of their companies
50% of all small businesses are operated from home
Small businesses provide 75 percent of new U.S. jobs and are the backbone of our economy
The Chandler Chamber has always been a leader in public policy, and that is not bound to change anytime soon!
Our Public Policy Committee and team continue to monitor and weigh in on many bills that are being worked through the legislative process. On May 5th there is a panel discussion regarding transportation and features many experts within the transportation industry.
Our annual How We Stand Roundtable discussions begin in June which provide a platform for business owners, employees, to share their perspectives, ideas, and experiences to collaborate on solutions that can help to drive economic growth and prosperity. Attendees can gain insights into the specific needs and concerns of the local business community, and can work to develop policies and programs that are responsive to those needs.
Additionally, the roundtable provides an opportunity for networking and collaboration among participants, which can help to build relationships and partnerships that can support ongoing economic development efforts.
From the discussion at these roundtables, positions on various policies are developed and published in the Chamber’s Award Winning Legislative Agenda. This document is used throughout the year so the Chamber can advocate for our business community. The Chamber continues to be a strong voice for our business community because of the collaboration between our businesses, community leaders, and elected officials. I hope to see you at our How We Stand Roundtable Discussions and check out page 13 for more details.

Warde Nicholas ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY
BOARD CHAIR
FROM THE MAYOR
Over the past year, we’ve experienced what some might consider a water roller coaster. Last summer we learned that for the first time ever, Arizona was headed into a Tier 2 drought, effective this year. Several cities in the Valley faced water cuts and were scrambling to find supplemental sources so they could continue to meet resident needs.
But not in Chandler. Our smart, long-term water vision left us well-positioned to weather water shortages. The city has spent decades planning and
preparing for naturally occurring droughts, making investments in infrastructure and a diverse water portfolio. While others were seeking alternatives, we were prepared to continue providing water to residents with no impacts due to drought.
As it turns out, Mother Nature had some surprises up her sleeve. We saw record rain and snowfall over the fall, spring and winter months, helping to replenish the state’s water supply and minimize drought conditions. In fact, according to experts. ¾ of the state is no longer in a drought, thanks to all the wet weather.
But that doesn’t mean our water strategy changes. We live in a desert and that means we have an obligation to manage our water responsibly. Chandler will continue to do so.
Drought is an ongoing threat, and
one year of strong rainfall doesn’t protect our water supply long term. That’s why Chandler’s commitment to conservation is as strong as ever, as is our focus on maintaining the infrastructure of our water resources. I encourage you to utilize all the city’s conservation programs, for your businesses as well as your homes. Find them all at chandleraz. gov/waterconservation. Together, we can ensure that water is always plentiful in our city.
From water levels to water activities, I’d like to remind you that May is Water Safety Month. Every single drowning in Chandler is preventable if we are vigilant around water. As Memorial Day weekend and summer approach, I implore you to share safety tips with your family, friends and employees. Find all the information at chandleraz. gov/wateryoudoing.

HOW WE STAND Business Roundtables
Make your voice heard. Advocate for your business. Join the Chandler Chamber as we offer our members and stakeholders the opportunity to take part in shaping our public policy agenda for 2024. We hold annual round-table discussions with industry leaders, members and public officials on particular issues such as education, energy, utilities, and transportation among others, and meticulously go over every bullet point for relevance, reform, validity and discussion. This process employs an in-house lobbyist to ensure that our legislators know where we stand on these crucial issues in the business community.
The Chamber then creates our award winning document, How We Stand Legislative Agenda, that represents the collective will of our members.
Register at chandlerchamber.com and we look forward to discussing how we can better advocate for the Chandler business community.

Alaska USA Federal Creidt Union changes name to Global Credit Union. With Alaska USA’s members growing and expanding all throughout the world, they were on a mission to find a better name that reflected their membership.
The name “Global” was ultimately selected for its ability to communicate to members that no matter where their life adventures take them, their credit union will be with them and help them chart their way forward and reach whatever summit they are aiming for.
“This new brand name is a better description of a membership that is distributed worldwide and more illustrative of our organizational commitment to
accessibility anytime, anywhere in the world,” said President and CEO Geoff Lundfelt.
“As this name change is implemented, our members will continue to receive the products and professional service they have come to know and expect from us,” Lundfelt said. “Our members will also continue to see us in the community as we interact, engage and invest to make our communities a better place to live, work and play. We are excited to welcome this new chapter and we look forward to reinforcing our commitment to our current members and embracing prospective members as we transition to the new name.”
