Summit Recap (Page 17)

Community Update

The holiday season is here, and it brings with it one of my favorite traditions of the year: celebrating our local businesses. Every shop, café, salon, and service provider in Chandler represents someone’s dream brought to life through hard work, long hours, and community support. When we choose to shop small, we are doing so much more than making a purchase. We are investing directly in our neighbors, supporting local jobs, and helping to build a stronger, more resilient Chandler.

Small Business Saturday is a perfect reminder of how much local businesses give back to our community. They are the ones donating to school fundraisers, sponsoring youth sports, and greeting customers by name. They are also the ones who create the unique experiences that make Chandler feel like home. This season, I encourage you to take the time to explore our local boutiques, dine at our family-owned restaurants, and discover the artisans and makers that give our city its personality.

Shopping small is not just an economic choice; it is a statement of community pride. Every dollar spent locally helps keep our city vibrant and ensures that the businesses we love are still here next year. Whether you are buying a gift for someone special or planning a holiday dinner, remember that those moments are made possible by the small business owners who pour their hearts into what they do.

As we look forward to a new year filled with growth and opportunity, I want to extend my gratitude to our business community for your dedication and creativity. Chandler thrives because of you. Let’s continue to support one another, celebrate local success stories, and keep our community strong during this joyful season.

BOARD CHAIR 2025

One of the Chamber’s most anticipated events each year is our Annual Bus Tour, taking place this year on December 9th. This event offers something truly unique for our members and community partners: an up-close look at the future of Chandler. Attendees will explore new developments, innovation corridors, and expansion projects that are shaping the city’s next chapter of growth. It is more than a tour; it is an interactive experience that allows participants to see firsthand how Chandler continues to evolve as a leader in business, technology, and community development.

From new business parks to revitalized retail areas, the tour highlights the investment and vision driving Chandler’s continued success. Attendees also get the chance to hear from city leaders, developers, and entrepreneurs who are making these projects possible.

The Annual Bus Tour is not only informative but also inspiring. It is a rare opportunity to connect with fellow professionals, exchange ideas, and envision how these developments will impact our workforce, our neighborhoods, and our future economy.

As Board Chair, I am especially proud of how the Chandler Chamber continues to bridge the gap between innovation and community connection. Events like the Bus Tour reflect the Chamber’s commitment to helping members stay informed and engaged with what is ahead for our city. I invite you to join us on December 9th to experience Chandler’s growth in motion and to see why our community remains one of the most dynamic and forward-thinking in Arizona.

How to Support Small Businesses in November

As we look back on October and approach the holiday season, it is important to remember that November is an important month, not only for the large companies set to benefit from the annual Black Friday rush, but also for the small businesses that play a critical role in our community.

Not only is November National Entrepreneur Month, but it also hosts Small Business Saturday, taking place on the 29th of November. Beginning in 2012, National Entrepreneurship Month highlights the incredible work done by individuals starting their own business; emphasizing the challenges and rewards that such an endeavor entail. In the spirit of the season, November is the perfect time to support the entrepreneurs and small businesses that have become a staple of Chandler’s business landscape.

Small Business Saturday, taking place on November 29th, seeks to continue this spirit of celebration for our small businesses. This holiday was established in 2010 by American Express to encourage holiday shoppers to buy local and support the small businesses within their communities. Small Business Saturday quickly grew in popularity and was recognized by Congress just one year after its inception, enabling local businesses to experience the same holiday shopping rush as many larger retail organizations participating in Black Friday.

Chandler is home to a diverse collection of small businesses that provide a wide variety of services and goods, giving residents an assortment of opportunities to support local businesses this month. To plan your November shopping spree, head to the Chandler Chamber’s business directory and see how our members can help meet your shopping needs.

Crystal Clear Workforce Strategy: Gen Z =

Speed, Innovation, Results

How to hire—and keep—them:

Gen Z isn’t a trend; they’re a talent strategy. When you bring Gen Z into your business, you gain fresh eyes, digital instincts, and fearless curiosity that moves work forward. They question what no longer serves, streamline clunky steps, and turn ideas into quick pilots. They care about purpose, equity, and results—my kind of leaders in the making.

At Crystal Clear Results (CCR), our Gen Z team members raise the bar every day. They bring diverse thought, smart technology shortcuts, creative problem-solving, and a genuine openness to coaching. That mix shows up as faster cycles, cleaner processes, and better client experiences—and it’s measurable.

• Onboard with meaning: connect day-one tasks to real customers and outcomes.

• Coach in short cycles: weekly touchpoints using SBI and “Now What?” keep progress clear.

• Make growth visible: microlearning, skill badges, and stretch assignments they can own.

• Offer flexibility with accountability: hybrid options, clear goals, and trust.

• Build belonging: invite their voice, credit ideas out loud, and mentor across generations.

• Recognize in real time: fair pay, timely praise, and transparent expectations.

• Co-create solutions: let them beta-test tools and lead pilots—then scale what works.

Here’s the Crystal Clear takeaway: hiring Gen Z is a performance play, not a PR move. Pair their curiosity and tech savvy with inclusive leadership and practical development, and you’ll see speed, innovation, and resilience ripple across your business.

Invest, coach, and partner—and watch your culture and results level up. Together. Intentionally. Now.

The Chandler Chamber’s Powering the Future Summit brought together business leaders, educators, and policymakers for a forward-looking conversation on the future of workforce, innovation, and education in our region. Attendees explored solutions to today’s most pressing challenges, from closing the skills gap to embracing emerging technologies that are reshaping industries. Through dynamic panel discussions and collaborative dialogue, participants gained practical insights into building stronger talent pipelines and creating partnerships that drive economic growth. The event underscored Chandler’s role as a leader in preparing Arizona’s workforce for the opportunities of tomorrow.

The Big Impact of Small Businesses in Chandler

When people discuss Chandler’s economy, many picture our thriving technology sector and advanced manufacturing companies. But the heartbeat of our community lies in the thousands of small businesses that power our economy every day. Small businesses aren’t just part of our economy; they form our identity.

From family-owned companies to innovative startups, small businesses generate opportunities across every sector while keeping our economy diverse and resilient. Nearly 90 percent of Chandler businesses are small businesses, employing our residents, supporting our tax base and creating the unique character that makes Chandler such a vibrant place to live, work and visit.

The City of Chandler and the Chandler Chamber of Commerce are proud to provide a strong support network with resources that help entrepreneurs and small business owners launch, grow and scale their businesses.

Guidance through our Small Business Resources program connects business owners with financing options, training, mentoring and tools for growth. For startups, Chandler provides dedicated support in areas like licensing, permitting and access to collaborative spaces and programs through the ASU Chandler Innovation Center that help new ideas thrive.

Our workforce development programs strengthen both businesses and the workforce by assisting employers find the talent they need and helping residents access rewarding training and career opportunities.

As we near years end, I encourage residents to support our small businesses. Shopping local is more than a consumer choice; it’s an investment in Chandler’s future. Every dollar spent here stays here, which fuels jobs, reinvestment and community growth. Programs like Choose Chandler have made it easy to explore local shops, restaurants and experiences that enrich our community.

This holiday season, consider our local businesses for your holiday shopping, team gatherings and client gifts. By supporting small businesses, we strengthen the very foundation of Chandler’s economy and ensure that our community remains a place where businesses of all sizes can thrive.

Chewy, the beloved pet brand, is bringing its signature blend of compassion, innovation, and convenience to Arizona with the opening of Chewy Vet Care Chandler. Celebrating Culture, Community, and Creativity: The Story of Desert Soul Media

Founded in 2015, Desert Soul Media, Inc. (DSM) is Arizona’s first only Black owned public media company. We are a locally controlled non-profit media arts organization currently operating Desert Soul Creative Studios, KRDP 90.7FM and KRDP+.

Desert Soul Creative Studios are creative public media spaces intentionally located in digital deserts around Arizona. We created media literacy opportunities for youth, elders and families with live and in-studio learning opportunities.

KRDP Community Radio (90.7 FM), named “Best Radio Station” in 2024 and “Best Community Radio Station” in 2025 by the Phoenix New Times, is a public radio station, offering jazz, blues, soul, specialty music programming, and public affairs and cultural content not heard on other Valley radio stations.

KRDP+ is our podcast service featuring exclusive locally produced content from voices in the Valley. Creating opportunities for creatives to distribute content across 65 radio stations nationwide and across streaming services.

Our broadcast signal covers more than 500,000 radio listeners and we average more that 4,000 listeners on our streaming services monthly. On 90.7FM, which can be heard in the East Valley, we broadcast locally news and events. We feature live local independent artists through our live community broadcasts.

Congress defunded the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, a major funding source of support for public radio stations like KRDP. We are turning to local businesses for financial support. Did you know 87% of listeners support public radio sponsors and 78% of listeners think positively of public radio station sponsors?

We look forward to connecting with Chandler Chamber and discovering a new path forward serving the East Valley.

Kovach Scales Up: New Chandler Headquarters Marks a Bold Step Forward

Kovach Enclosure Systems, a long-established leader in the design and construction of innovative building enclosure systems, has signed a new lease to continue growing its operations in Chandler. The company will occupy 190,475 square feet across two buildings at the recently redeveloped Chandler Freeways Business Park, located at 6955 W. Morelos Place, near the intersection of Interstate 10 and Loop 202 in West Chandler.

Kovach has been in Chandler since 1970 and currently employs 365 people. The new space will serve as the company’s headquarters and is more than 50% larger than its current location in Chandler. It also offers modern, state-of-the-art industrial facilities designed to meet the company’s evolving operational needs.

Chandler fab to produce Intel’s most advanced US-made semiconductor technology

Intel recently announced big news by sharing plans to enter high-volume production later this year for its Panther Lake chips, the company’s first product built on Intel 18A, said to be the most advanced semiconductor process ever developed and manufactured in the United States. Panther Lake is being manufactured at Fab 52, Intel’s new, state-of-the-art factory here in Chandler.

Fab 52 is Intel’s fifth high-volume fab at its Ocotillo Campus in Chandler. This facility is reported to produce the most advanced logic chips in the U.S. and is part of the $100 billion Intel is investing to expand its domestic operations, which includes Fab 62 in Chandler still under construction.

The new Fab 52 builds upon Intel’s legacy of R&D and manufacturing advancement and represents a major milestone as a leading-edge U.S. foundry for the AI era.

Opus breaks ground on differentiated Class A speculative industrial development in Chandler

Opus announced earlier this month that construction has started on Envision 56, a twobuilding, speculative industrial project near the intersection of North 56th Street and West Chandler Boulevard. The 125,000-square-foot development offers smaller tenants the rare opportunity to move into a state-of-the-art, single-user building.

Envision 56 is an eight-acre infill project in an industrial area on Chandler’s west side, just blocks from Interstate 10 and Loop 202.

2025 Wreaths Across America

Event

The time is fast approaching for the 2025 (Tenth Annual) Chandler Wreaths Across America Day event, which will be held at the Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery. The event is scheduled for the 2nd Saturday in December, which is December 13th this year.

The Chandler event began, and continues, as an Exchange Club of Chandler event; however, over the years other organizations such as the Chandler Elks Lodge #2429, the Exchange Club of Phoenix, and American Legion Post 35 and Post 91 have become involved in the effort to honor and remember the approximately 3,200 veterans buried at the Valley of the Sun cemetery. We are still shy of our goal of 3,200 wreaths and will need your help to achieve our goal of placing a real balsam wreath on each veteran’s grave.

The annual event consists of laying out the real balsam wreaths and a memorial ceremony. Volunteers will begin gathering around 8:30 a.m. (there will be coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts available). The laying of the wreaths will begin at 9:20a.m. Each wreath symbolizes the commitment to remember and honor our nation’s veterans and teach our children about freedom and the sacrifice required to maintain our freedom. There will be an educational activity for children to help them learn about veterans. As wreaths are laid, we ask that the volunteers respectfully remember the veteran by saying the veteran’s name aloud. The formal ceremony will start at 10 a.m. the wreaths on the snow-covered cemetery went viral.

2025 Wreaths Across America Event cont.

Wreaths Across America got its start in 1992 when the Worcester Wreath Company had a surplus of 5,000 wreaths. The company sought and received permission to place the wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery. It really took off in 2005 when a photograph of the wreaths on the snow-covered cemetery went viral.

Wreaths Across America is now a national project. Last year over 3 million veterans were remembered and honored with wreaths at over 4,600 locations nationwide and WWII Cemeteries in Europe.

Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery has been proudly serving the Chandler and the East Valley of the Phoenix area since 1963. For more than 50 years, their commitment to the community and area veterans has been to provide respectful and caring service.

If you are able, please sponsor a wreath before November 28thgo to www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/AZ0084P – it costs just $17 to sponsor a wreath. Please tell a friend, too.

If you are available to join us on Saturday, December 13th, please come to the Valley of the Sun Cemetery on Chandler Heights Rd (between Arizona Avenue and Alma School Rd).

NOTE: On the following Saturday, December 20th, we are asking for volunteers to help take the wreaths up. You are welcome to take wreaths home. The remaining wreaths will be transported to the military cemetery up in Cave Creek. If you have a pickup truck and would like to help, please join us at 9:00am on the 20th.
