At the Chandler Chamber, we’ve long believed that workforce development begins long before someone writes a resume. It starts with early exposure, meaningful mentorship, and helping students see what’s possible when they feel connected to their future.
That’s why I’m thrilled to share our newest partnership with Conley Elementary School. Through their Selective Elective program, 5th and 6th grade students are paired with local professionals who volunteer just one hour a week to introduce them to real-world careers. These sessions are hands-on, engaging, and age-appropriate—designed to spark curiosity and build confidence in young learners.
This collaboration is more than a school program. It’s an investment in our future workforce and a powerful reminder of what can happen when education and industry work hand in hand. By showing students what careers look like up close, we’re helping them connect what they’re learning in the classroom to real possibilities.
We’re grateful to Principal Lisa Shore and the team at Conley for their vision and to the local professionals stepping up to make a difference. If your organization is interested in participating, I encourage you to learn more. It’s a small time commitment that leaves a lasting impact.
Together, we’re shaping futures—one classroom at a time.

The Chandler Chamber Leadership Institute Class 41 spent August’s issue day exploring education in Chandler. Tours of Galveston Elementary, Valley Christian High School, and Hamilton High School offered insight into different learning environments. At Hamilton, the class heard from CUSD leaders and enjoyed lunch prepared by CTE Culinary students.
The day wrapped up at GCU’s Chandler campus with a panel discussion featuring public, private, and higher education leaders.
Class 41 walked away with a deeper understanding of how education shapes Chandler’s future.

On August 27, community leaders, residents, and local businesses gathered at Vision Gallery to meet and welcome Chandler’s new Acting City Manager, John Pombier, and members of his executive team. The event, hosted in partnership by the City of Chandler and the Chandler Chamber of Commerce, offered a unique opportunity for attendees to connect directly with city leadership in an approachable, informal setting.
Guests had the chance to hear from John Pombier, who began his new role on July 16 following a long career with the City of Mesa. His thoughtful insights and approachable leadership style made a strong first impression as he spoke about Chandler’s strengths and the opportunities ahead. Pombier was joined by his executive team, including Assistant City Manager Tadd Wille, Deputy City Manager and Chief Financial Officer Dawn Lang, Deputy City Manager Leah Powell, and Deputy City Manager Ryan Peters.
The Chandler Chamber is proud to help foster connections between civic leaders and the broader community. We thank everyone who attended for making the evening meaningful and welcoming. Your voice plays a vital role in shaping the future of Chandler.

Arizona funds its public schools through a state formula based on student enrollment and the distance students are transported. To meet additional needs including rising costs, state law allows public school districts to ask voters for extra local funding through ballot measures known as bonds and overrides. For decades, bonds and overrides have been critical in helping districts cover salaries, specialized educational programming, safety systems, school infrastructure, and so much more.
A bond is voter-approved funding that pays for things like building repairs, buses, classroom technology, and safety infrastructure. An override is voter-approved funding that supports people and programs, such as teacher and staff salaries, safety personnel, fine arts, and specialized classes like JROTC.
This November, many Arizona school districts including Kyrene Elementary School District and Chandler Unified will hold bond and/or override elections.
All school district voter guides will be available online at the Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools’ website. Bond and Override Elections — Office of Maricopa County School Superintendent
Homeowners who want to understand how a proposed bond or override could affect their property taxes can review the voter information pamphlet produced by their school district and posted at the website above. These guides are mailed out before the election and show the estimated monthly and annual costs to taxpayers.
The election on November 4, 2025, will be an all-mail jurisdictional election which means that all eligible voters will automatically be receiving a ballot in the mail. Since 1991, Arizona law has allowed school districts to run these elections entirely by mail.
Check your voter registration status to make sure you are Election Day ready. If you are not registered to vote, the process takes only a few minutes.

Chandler’s momentum is undeniable. Our business community is expanding, and our schools are creating programs that produce a skilled workforce to match. These past two months have produced a series of announcements fueling our community’s progress.
Keenstack, an innovative health tech company opened a new Chandler office to expand its partnerships and healthcare solutions. Toyota Financial Services announced a 50 percent expansion of its Chandler footprint, bringing more jobs and investment. And, Applied Materials has joined forces with Apple and Texas Instruments to invest $200 million in a state-of-the-art facility to manufacture critical components for semiconductor equipment, reinforcing Chandler’s role as a leader in this critical industry.
These announcements don’t just add jobs. They strengthen Chandler’s global reputation as a destination for innovation, supported by our business-friendly policies, excellent quality of life, strong infrastructure and talent pipeline.
That pipeline is getting a major boost from the Chandler Unified School District’s new Semiconductor Manufacturing Career and Technical Education program at Hamilton High School. With over 50 students in its first year, this first-of-its-kind, two-year program equips students with hands-on training, practical skills and direct connections to industry leaders.
Developed in partnership with the University of Arizona, the East Valley Institute of Technology, and top industry partners like Intel, Microchip Technology, NXP and others, the program is designed to meet the growing demand for semiconductor talent that powers everything from smartphones to electric vehicles.
When companies expand here and students train here, Chandler wins twice. Businesses gain access to a skilled, ready workforce, and our residents benefit from high-quality, high-paying career opportunities.
This collaboration between business, education and community is exactly what makes Chandler stand out. We’re not just growing jobs; we’re creating a future workforce that will keep our economy strong for decades to come. The future is bright in Chandler and we’re ready to lead it.

Shawn & Jill Charles Oasis Senior Advisors
When it comes to selecting the right senior living for your elderly loved one, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the process.
With tens of thousands of senior housing communities across the United States, and a wide range of different types of housing options to choose from, it’s not always easy to know where to begin.
That’s where we come in. We are blessed to be with Oasis Senior Advisors helping families with the options to transition to senior living.
Helping you overcome those obstacles is our passion. If you need help or have questions, please contact us -- 480-519-796
