HIGH COURT BOOST FOR NEW KEW SUPERSTORE Construction work can finally begin - pending an appeal - on out-of-town Sainsbury’s ... six years after plans were first submitted to Sefton Council

A CON TROVERSIAL plan to build a Sainsbury’s super store in Kew has been given a green light - six years after it was first proposed. The ruling is, however, subject to an appeal lodged by a property company based in Penrith. A planning application to build a 60,000 sq ft store on Meols Cop retail park was first submitted in 2015, but it was met with opposition due to concerns it would lead to a drop in town centre footfall and harm local businesses. Sefton Council had approved a revised plan in 2020, which was a reduction in the size of the supermarket to 50,000 sq ft, but this decision was subject to a High Court ruling, which was made last week. She was a finalist in the What’s On 4 Awards 2021 in the category ‘Most Loved Academic Activity’ in her area, being nominated for the quality of her teaching, innovation, and growth of her business. Sandi said: “I am extremely proud to have made the finals as there were literally thousands of entries. It is such a strong category and one that everyone wants to win!
