ALUMNI A LETTER TO
I am very pleased to share all the exciting things happening at Chaminade this semester. I hope that many of you have had the chance to come to campus and experience the many events that have taken place since the start of the school year.
Chaminade Alumni have had a strong showing so far and have participated in Celebrate Chaminade, the Father Ralph Siefert Memorial Alumni Golf Classic, Reunion weekend (Oct 14-15), and the Chaminade Speaker Series, to name a few. We are grateful for your participation and would like to thank those who have made these events possible.
The Fathers’ and Mothers’ Clubs continue to do great work around Chaminade, including a Parent-Son Service Day and the Christmas Tree Lot. Both clubs are busy planning many functions around campus for the spring.
Things are going quite well at Chaminade. Our football team had some bright spots this season, but lost to MICDS in the quarterfinal round of districts. Our soccer team continued its rich tradition, beating SLUH for the district championship, but ultimately losing to St. Dominic in the quarterfinals of the state tournament. Cross country, swimming, and diving teams had numerous successful individual and team performances this fall.
The Chaminade fine arts program continues to thrive with ten of our gifted musicians making District Band this year, and the drama department performing their fine production of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible.
I hope many of you had the chance to attend Celebrate Chaminade. We had more than 400 alumni from all over the country attend the festivities, which included the varsity football game, as well as a celebration of the 1972 Hall of Fame Football Team, on Friday night. The golf tournament was a resounding success and in attendance had a beautiful day and shared the camaraderie of this fun event. Many alumni were on hand for the various class reunion parties around St. Louis. When I attend these events, I am always pleased to be reminded that we have so much to be proud of, and that Chaminade is truly a family.
Chaminade continues to thrive on academic matters as well with three seniors recognized as National Merit Scholar Semi-Finalists, and three seniors earning the National Merit Scholars “Commended Student” awards.
Please make every effort to get up to campus and get involved in any way you can. We have Parent Club events, Alumni Board events, and winter and spring athletics and activities to look forward to.
I am quite proud to be your Alumni President and I truly believe that Chaminade offers the best educational experience in St. Louis. I want to thank all the Alumni Board members for their hard work and dedication to the school. We have a great group of gentlemen on the board who are here to serve their fellow alumni in all Chaminade endeavors. We welcome all comments and suggestions to make our alma mater a better place for our alumni and students
Hope to see you all up on campus!
