ADMISSIONS

There is something so exciting about working in a school and working in the Admissions Department is never boring! We are fortunate to meet so many new prospective families that are incredibly impressed by Chaminade’s robust educational program, the passionate educators, and the beautiful campus. Our Ambassadors do a phenomenal job of showcasing all of these elements to really present a day in the life of a Red Devil.

This year, our department reorganized. Julie Malloy remained our constant, and we welcomed Zach Pogue, a graduate of Chaminade’s Class of 2015. I was named the Director of Enrollment Management, and we have worked diligently to promote all that we love about Chaminade.

We have hosted hundreds of shadow visitors this semester. They are always impressed by the lunch and the tour, but they also rave about holding a reptile in Mr. Kelly’s Science classroom. We hear about a math lesson that was particularly lively or a STEM project to which they were able to contribute. They enjoy the theater class and the House prayer services. It’s enriching to hear about our program from their perspective.

The Admissions Department hosted many fall events, and our guests left having experienced some of that special Family Spirit of which we’re most proud. Open House was a huge success with over 150 visitors; there is nothing like pulling onto campus on a gorgeous day and seeing those CHAMINADE flags flying! It was such a collaborative effort including the Ambassadors, teachers, administrators, Parent Ambassadors, and maintenance staff to showcase Chaminade. The Red Devil Dog, prepared by Chaminade’s BBQ Club, was quite the highlight!

The Keller Family, with one Chaminade graduate and two sons currently at Chaminade: Quinn (’22), Colin (’25), and Paddy (’26), once again welcomed us on their patio for a prospective parent presentation: Reaching Boys, Teaching Boys. Middle School Principal, Jack Twellman, and Counselor, Laura Griese presented on the strategy behind all that makes our students successful: the House System, the Marianist philosophy, the 80-minute, rigorous classes, the dynamic teaching, the class trips, and so much more. Nearly all the families have already brought their sons to Chaminade for a shadow.

It’s in these moments that I am most proud of Chaminade. There is so much good here, and our department gets to showcase all of that daily. We are grateful for the support of the Ambassadors, the teachers, the administrators, and the parents for spreading the great word on Chaminade. Keep it up because we hear about it all the time!

Heather Lawler, E.D. Director of Enrollment Management
