Local News CESL just received a grant from the Commission on the Status of Women to start an International Women’s Club in conjunction with partners on campus. We look forward to developing this club to help our students and other international women on campus connect. ________________ CESL hosted graduate interns from the English Language & Linguistics program, and an undergraduate preceptor who served as a conversation partner to our students. These individuals gained important educational experiences and also enriched the experiences of our students.

Featured Local Programs We are wrapping up our class with St. Gregory School, where a CESL teacher goes to teach international students there. Our classes continue with Refugee Focus, where a tutor goes twice a week and leads small group sessions. We recently finished a program with Continental in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico We held conversation classes for visiting international engineers in Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering.

Global Programs Updates This spring we were busier than ever with our teacher training programs in high demand. We continued to run our basic online teacher training with students in Chungnam, South Korea. We also began a new online teacher training program with 14 teachers in Zacatecas, Mexico. They will soon be moving on to the advanced online course. We once again expect to host a group of Fulbright PreAcademic students here at CESL this summer. A group of seven CESL instructors will travel to Guangzhou, China again this coming summer to offer basic and advanced face-to-face teacher training certificate programs. CESL will provide online teacher training to 25 teachers from Hermosillo, Mexico beginning in May. This is a hybrid, face-toface and online program. Look for updates on the above programs and more exciting program developments in the next CESL Voice newsletter!
