AS WELCOME

Over the weekend Cedar College held its DHA and PECHS “AS Welcome Day” for the batch of 2026 It was majorly organized and run by the Student Council candidates of 2025
Various activities were set up for the students such as Karaoke, Tote bag painting, Charades, Tug of war and the classic Drum circle. The activities started at 10 am and went on till 2 pm. Each campus’s respective councils were allowed to plan one unique activity per campus

Halls of Cedar PECHS buzzed with excitement, on 23rd August Friday, as Karaoke and Balloon therapy commenced the day Songs of Atif Aslam could be heard in the halls, while the rhythmic beats of the Drum Circle activity provided a communal atmosphere, allowing students to get to know their fellow batch mates Later in the morning, board games, chess, and races were being conducted at the Hub to foster camaraderie through sports, and gamers congregated in the PS4 Gaming Lounge for some friendly virtual competition The tote bag painting activity gave students the chance to design their very own tote bag, like a memento from their college In the afternoon, an intriguing murder mystery or scavenger hunt took place, encouraging students to put on their detective hats and work together to solve a captivating case

The AS Welcome of DHA campus was held on 24th August, commencing the day with a 4 module scavenger hunt. Starting with a game of architecture, where Knights were asked to build a tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows and its stability was tested, and Jenga From there it progressed to a maze and riddles and ended with a hunt for the prize The day ended with the drum circle activity, which was by far everyone’s favorite activity. Students were split into two teams and competed against each other on who could sing the songs the loudest They were also taught the beat of the song via ques given by the band and played the drums and tambourines provided it to them along with the band The synchronized instruments and harmony proved it to be the most relaxing and the best way to conclude the festivities
Feedback from the AS was also provided which further proved that they had a blast! With most students calling it super fun and enjoyable. Our College’s CEP department and Councils, as well as our lovely society volunteers (some of which came straight from their SAT centers after the exam ended), put in a lot of time and effort into making this a smooth sailing and stimulating event and for that we applaud them Their hard work definitely paid off!!
SPOTLIGHT

Dania Danish is a skilled resin artist, a dedicated businesswoman, and a gifted painter Now a student of A2, Dania has established and now successfully operates her very own business specializing in custom resin creations, including personalized plaques, trays, and various decorative crafts.
A passionate of the arts from a young age, Dania had always loved painting, sketching, and drawing each corner of her imagination What was once a mere hobby, soon turned out to be the springboard that launched her art career into action Once she recognized her bird-in-hand, which is her creativity and artistic talents, she channeled her inner businesswoman, and set up “METIER
ARTIFICE”, her resin art brand
To further her resin-making skills and art knowledge, Dania took a plethora of courses from a number of institutes, one of them being the Rangoonwala institute She learned resin art, stitching, graphic designing, and makeup skills In the meantime, Dania kept painting, and even experimented with a bunch of different mediums This catalyzed her painting proficiency and resulted in her selection as one of the three featured artists in the Arts & Crafts Gala
Throughout her journey as a resin artist, Dania told us she has often become a victim of her anxiety and self-doubt
The pressure to consistently produce high-quality work, coupled with the financial strain of working with expensive materials, more often than not led to uncertainty. There were times when she questioned her abilities, particularly when the resin pieces did not meet her expectations or when she suffered losses due to finishing techniques. However, Dania refused to let these doubts define her Instead, she transformed her struggles into a driving force for improvement, and dedicated herself to perfecting her craft According to Dania, she is grateful for this experience, teaching her the value of resilience and the importance of confronting one’s weaknesses head-on
When asked about her future plans, Dania told us she will be happy to continue this business and take on large-scale commissions As a business student, she will use the strategies learned in the classroom and implement them in real time, and is confident she can and will establish a prominent presence in the art industry.
Dania’s message to aspiring entrepreneurs: do not see struggles as setbacks, yet reframe them as chances to innovate, build, and adapt. Trust that the process of building a thriving business, though arduous at times, will bear fruit if you persevere
Hats off to Dania for all her achievements and we wholeheartedly wish her the very best in all her future endeavors!

SAT EXAM
August 24th Saturday, marked the first SAT examination held for this academic semester After months of hard work and dedication, our Knights sat for the test, fully prepared and sure of their tireless efforts which went on for the entirety of vacations as well as August The fruit of our students’ labor will be declared on September 6th, about two weeks after the exam takes place For students, any score above the average of 1050 out of 1600 would be ideal, however ultimately it is your desired university’s requirements that you should adhere to.
Giving the SAT exam is a significant part of your Alevel journey and university planning, as most universities abroad require a certain SAT score from their aspiring candidates SAT is equally important for our local universities as well, with the growing demand of the exam score at the time of application, as well as the policy of being exempted from the entrance tests of various universities if one has a good SAT score. It is also important to know that the validity of SAT scores for most universities is an average of 2-3 years, and one can give as many exams as they want, for an improved grade
Our college SAT classes have aided our Knights significantly to improve their scores, by teaching certain answering techniques and continuous past papers sessions Cedar continues to provide this facility for students who plan to partake in the exam in the upcoming months We wish the best of luck to our Knights for their upcoming results!

This painting is not only one of Claude Monet’s most famous works but also the piece that gave the Impressionist movement it’s name.

"Impression, Sunrise" depicts the port of Le Havre at sunrise, with the sun casting a soft glow over the water and boats

Artistic Innovation:
How does this painting challenge traditional approaches to art at the time, emphasizing personal perception and the effects of light over realistic detail

BEST ART INTERPRETATIONS FROM ISSUE III

edvard munch - the scream
Edvard Munch uses the primary colors, red and blue, two bold colors that could represent his chaotic and negative state of mind The gist of the painting may be a representation of Munch's inner feelings, not only the color palette but also the subject and the backdrop While the figure in the picture is screaming, those friends in the backdrop are too calm for a situation that is so jolting for Munch They just don't fit in Munch's world, maybe highlighting his loneliness and how alienated he felt at that time Eman Riaz
The painting's messy strokes, rendered in primary colors, paradoxically convey a profound message. It suggests that simplicity can belie complexity - anxiety often begins as a small seed, taking root and growing, gnawing at nerves and sowing chaos in the mind. The painting's imperfections are precisely what make it feel perfect, offering a creative and poignant exploration of human emotions
Myesha Amin
We can see the person in the painting screaming, almost as if in some sort of crisis There's helplessness shown, as the person depicts signs of anxiety, not being able to do anything but scream Standing on top of the bridge, not alone but definitely lonely without anyone with him, shows his distance from the public, as if he's in his own world, unaware of his surroundings The painting is titled The Scream, ultimately to plainly highlight the person's anguish or anxiety, as he breaks and lets out his emotions, not caring about the public setting
