TRAINING
Women in Civil
Did you know that over the last 5 years, only 1% of civil construction apprentices have been female? Every few years, Civil Train provides a dedicated training program to specifically encourage female participation in the civil construction sector. This year, our WOMEN IN CIVIL RII20715 Certificate II in Civil Construction program is attempting to increase the number of female apprentices in the industry. We want to assist women to see civil construction as a career and overtly facilitating apprenticeship pathways is crucial to this occurring.
It’s our target to place at least 70% (11) of these ladies into an apprenticeship by September. If we can manage that, this program will singlehandedly increase the 5-year average to 2.6% and bring the current number of female apprentices to 7.3%! This 12-week course is full-time and will support a group of 16 ladies who are keen to pursue a career in civil construction. Do you represent a civil construction employer and are you keen to support the ladies in the program with the following options? » A visit to one of your sites » Be a guest speaker » Be an industry mentor » Offer work experience » Consider employing as an apprentice Your business can be a part of breaking new ground and actively growing the female civil construction workforce in South Australia.
