The Pope also asked that attention be paid to Catholic schools and to the good upbringing and education of young people in a spirit of dialogue and fraternity with everybody. Finally, the Pope asked that attention be paid to calls to priesthood and religious life. The future and vitality of the Church depends on it. The Dutch bishops gained a great deal of encouragement from their meeting with the Pope.
Dopo una profonda riorganizzazione nel 2012 con una riduzione del personale da oltre diciotto e più a sette dipendenti a tempo pieno nel 2011-12, il segretariato della Chiesa cattolica olandese è stato nuovamente riorganizzato quest’anno a causa delle finanze ridotte. Le risorse per i media e la comunicazione sono state ridotte da una persona e mezza a una persona a tempo pieno e l’orario di lavoro del segretario generale è stato ridotto a tempo parziale. Al diacono Dr JBM Nijhuis, da poco in pensione, è succeduto la Sig.ra PSJM Daalmans (54). La Sig.ra Daalmans svolge questo compito in aggiunta ai suoi doveri come avvocato interno e segretario del Consiglio degli Affari Economici. L’anno scorso, la segreteria si è trasferito in più piccoli uffici a Utrecht.

The foundation for managing and monitoring sexual abuse (an independent foundation under Dutch law) guides victims via the Contact Point (Meldpunt), the Assistance Platform (Platform Hulpverlening), the Complaints Committee and the Compensation Committee in their search for recognition, restitution, justice and compensation. Following preliminary ecclesiastical investigations (CIC, c. 1717), the bishops have taken measures against the accused who are still alive to avoid recidivism. Also with a view to prevention, the bishops and higher superiors have taken measures: every appointment in the Church is preceded by an antecedents screening and the appointment of most professionals and volunteers in the Church requires a Certificate of Good Behaviour (Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag or VOG). On 1 July 2014, the bishops introduced a Code of Pastoral Conduct and have made new arrangements for dealing with complaints against living persons and for abuse that is not yet statute-barred. Although the closing date for filing complaints against deceased persons and for statute-barred abuse is 1 July 2014, assistance to victims continues after this date.
After a major reorganisation in 2012 with a reduction in personnel from over eighteen or more, to seven full-time equivalents in 2011-12, the secretariat of the Dutch Roman Catholic Church has once again been reorganised this year because of reduced finances. The capacity for press and communication has been reduced from one and a half to one full-time equivalent and the task of secretary-general has been reduced to a part-time function. Deacon Dr JBM Nijhuis, who has recently retired, has been succeeded by Ms PSJM Daalmans (54). Ms Daalmans carries out this duty in addition to her duties as a lawyer ad intra and secretary of the Board of Economists. In the past year, the secretariat has moved to smaller offices within Utrecht.
