Through extensive research and the discovery of flophouses, I discovered that I not only want to help the homeless community, but I want to find a way to stop the cycle of homelessness by providing affordable housing in a community setting. This is expressed through spaces such as craft rooms, daycares, fitness centers, dining hall, library, and public lounges.

CONCEPT6 Through times of this ‘imperfect’ view of life, the built environment replicates the lives within. These dysfunctional families can create a beautiful structure and surroundings that allow for pockets of retreat for bonding. This purposely steers away from clean ‘ideal’ forms and the forms created follow this dysfunction. PLAYSCAPE INDOOR

The goal for the project was to create a sustainable headquarters for the Preservation of the Deleware River Watershed Organizations. Three organizations will be utilizing the space so there was an emphasis on privacy and collaborative spaces. Through research, the main objective was to create a sustainable office which was done through green roofs, repurposed materials, exterior rain gardens, and a cistern to collect water runoff.

This can be seen in case studies like the HS House which uses polycarbonate to adjust the opacity of walls, and “Under” which is an underwater resort that uses rough concrete to emulate a REPURPOSEDreefs.

Research was done to gather information on the area and current attributes the town provides. As a student we had to select a retail store that would succeed in New Hope based off of its demographics. I decided to desgin an Old fashioned confectionary which caters to all ages, genders, and ethnicities, while allowing a fun and unique design for locals and visitors.

of time sweets have alwasy been made through a melting process. This process was then interperpreted into a design aspect by allowing the architecture to melt from one layer to the next. This three story space represents how a solid can turn into a liquid allowing it to flow harmoniously grouping a space as one horizontally and vertically.

The objective was to choose a user group from an occupation who endures stress. The user group I chose was grocery store workers. Required was to interview a person from this user group and gather information to create a multi-sensory space to relieve stress. We were able to choose our location based off the location of the user groups work. The site then had to be surveyed based off of scent, sound, behaviours, and density. During the desing process, the space materials, textures, sound, site, and smell should be evoking,

Through this I took inspiration from wind erosion through canyons, and the organic forms that it creates. These were then formed into curvature arches that guides a path for the user making them fully emerse themselves in the design. At the very end of the path on either level you are presented with a serene view of Upper Roxborough Resevoiur.

GREAT ROO
This facility unifies two age groups, young adoloscents (5-12 years) and senior citizens (55+). The space should allow both generations to be able to converse with one another through tutoring centers, teach-in kithens, craft rooms, and great rooms to conversate. There was a large emphasis on ADA standards, focusing especially on the senior citizens which was further researched with Thomas Jeffersons University Occupational Therapists Students to make sure guests can get from point A to point B efficiently.

Took the two age groups, senior citizens, and adolescents, and bonded them together through a magnetic connection. This force starts in the center great room where the main collaboration space is. From here all the other spaces radiate outwards towards the exterior creating smaller quiet spaces for those with special needs.

Upon researching case studies on medical offices, required was to engage the customers in the space. The stigma behind dentists offices is they are uninviting and cold, this space should be clean, comforting, and factor in human behavior. Each space should be completely functional due to the restrictive size.

WAITING ROOM

TheCONCEPTdesign is based off the idea of banding used for braces. This form is to correct an imperfect form and make it perfect. A rose gold band connects the central rooms to create complete unison. The center of the floor plan is open to allow for better circulation as workers move throughout the office.
