GETNS Newsletter – 11th April 2013 Dear Parents / Guardians

Welcome back to a term packed with different activities! We hope you had a very enjoyable holiday. April - Autism Awareness Month This month we will focus on autism in the classrooms, doing different activities. TOMORROW will be Autism Awareness Day in the school. Everyone will wear blue and the children will be releasing blue balloons in the yard. A small donation toward this cause will be much appreciated – please send it in with your child if you want to participate. It will be collected during tomorrow only.

Pop Up Restaurant!!!!!!!!!! On April 27th we will be hosting a Pop Up Restaurant for 100 lucky diners! The school hall will be transformed into a beautiful dining room for the night. The event will run from 7.45pm to midnight and will include a 5 course meal with a glass of wine and music afterwards. The dinner will be prepared by local restaurateurs celebrating the best of local produce. Tickets for the event will cost €40 per person and will go on sale from Monday 15th of April. There will be vegetarian options on the menu and we will try as best we can to cater for diners with food allergies. Tickets can be purchased from the school office and must be paid for at the time of booking. There is huge interest in this event so buy your ticket early to avoid disappointment. For those who may not wish to attend as diners but would like to support the event we need volunteers, preferably with service experience, to help on the night. Please let us know at the office if you can help out. All proceeds will go to supporting the school finances.

Family Contribution – Last Pull Thanks to everyone who has paid the initial €50… and the others who have paid in full. Please make a special effort to pay the remaining €80 of the family contribution for this year as soon as possible. We can’t keep up the high standard of education without your co-operation: we need your support. Thank you.

Put Your Green Fingers On!

That Spring feeling is definitely here again! It's time to get busy in our gardens once more. We have planted some garlic and onions in our school garden already. We still have plenty of space to plant more vegetables. We would love to get a group of parents together who would be interested in helping out in the garden, i.e. helping the children with the planting or weeding. You do not need to be an experienced gardener! Please leave your name with Ester if you are interested. The Green School Commitee

Theft of smart phones Councillor Gerry Breen provided the following message. The theft of smart phones is widespread. Be “smarter” with your phones! 1) Keep your smart phones out of sight in an inside pocket when out and about, don’t place on the table in a restaurant/café etc and don’t leave it on display in a car. 2) Find out what your IMEI number is and keep it safe. You can get the

IMEI number by entering #06# on the keypad of your phone and the 15 digit IMEI number will appear on the screen. Save it and keep it separate from the phone. If the phone is lost or stolen, your service provider (Vodafone,O2,Meteor,3) will be able to disable the phone if you can supply them the IMEI number for the phone.
