Join us for Operation Respect

Wednesday 13th August 2025, 10am to 3pm

We’re putting on our rubber gloves and getting stuck into making Northside, Workington a cleaner community that we can all be proud of! And we’re asking you to join us, and do your bit to make this a cleaner, greener and more attractive place to live and enjoy!

Come and help us litter pick, put your unwanted items in the communal skip (shown below) and access the health and wellbeing services that will be there on the day.

Let’s spruce up Northside!

Castles & Coasts Housing Association is working in partnership with Cumberland Council, Tivoli, Cumbria Police and Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service to take part in Operation Respect, helping tackle the blight of flytipping and littering on the area.

Did you know… fly-tipping and littering in your area has cost CCHA £25k? This diverts money away from essential services such as improvements to kitchens and bathrooms in your homes.

As part of Operation Respect, this year we’re adding a collection service. If we are contacted IN ADVANCE (by Friday 8th August) with a list of bulky items only, we will collect them from front gardens.

Please only put items outside your homes on the morning of the event. Note we won’t be able to come inside your home. Please contact customer services on: 0800 085 1171 or email: lettings@castlesandcoasts.co.uk with your address and a list of items to collect.

Children who take part in Operation Respect by bringing smaller items with them for disposal will get an ice cream treat*.

*One ice cream per child (under 16) and limited to the first 50 children.
