MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAIRMAN Welcome to the Carnegie Theatre and Arts Centre’s Autumn/Winter programme!

I’m thrilled to present such a varied programme of events, bursting at the seams with entertainment and cultural excellence for every taste.

Comedy takes a leading role this season, with performances guaranteed to split sides from US comedy giant Rich Hall, British comedy veterans Mark Steel and Jeremy Hardy, plus the award winning Russell Kane. Tickets also go on sale for next year’s return visit from Lee Nelson – don’t miss out! The girls are represented too with brand new show, Isle of Woman who promise to take you from high heels to Boris Johnson!

Monroe’s Bar launches its new Battle of the Bands – with four heats through the season and a final in January with the very best bands from all over Cumbria and Lancashire competing for £1000 prize money, they are going to be evenings not to miss – punk, rock, indie and blues will all be represented!

Music is high on the agenda all season with fun nights out such as 80s Mania and Supersonic 70s, giving us the chance to dress up and boogie. The unmissable Zonked Out On Acdo with Workington’s unique Halloween tribute/insult to Black Sabbath, plus rock nostalgia with Classic Rock USA and A Foreigners Journey.

Traditional pop isn’t missed with X Factor winner Joe McElderry paying Workington a visit in November hot off the heels of his sell out UK tour in the lead role of Joseph and his Technicolor Dreamcoat.

The brilliant Creeds Cross, will also be joining us, with high octane Celtic song and dance and Irish heart throb, Derek Ryan will be serenading audiences with his distinctive lilt.

Children won’t be missing out as we hunt for The Giants Loo Roll in September, host our annual Halloween parties in October, help Santa and the Pirates in November and head into our annual Christmas pantomime in December. We are delighted that WADAMS will be presenting Sleeping Beauty this year – make sure to book your tickets early to avoid disappointment!

MARK STEEL: WHO DO I THINK I AM? TUESDAY 18TH OCTOBER 2016 | 8PM | TICKETS £15.00 Critically acclaimed comedian, The Independent columnist and regular of Have I Got News For You, The Newsquiz and Room 101, Mark Steel comes to Workington with his enthralling and hilarious take on his search for his roots and identity.

It never occurred to me I needed to meet her to ‘find out who I was’, as it didn’t seem likely I’d discover I was someone different to who I thought I was. JEREMY HARDY: LIVE 2016 Jeremy Hardy is in his fourth decade as a stand-up this year. That’s a more dramatic way of saying he started 32 years ago and, without a lottery win, probably has at least another 32 years to go. In 2014, the tenth series of Jeremy Hardy Speaks to the Nation was broadcast on Radio 4. He is also well known for his appearances on The News Quiz and I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue.

However, Jeremy isn’t only on the radio, his television credits include: Jack Dee’s Election Helpdesk (BBC2), QI (BBC1), Mock The Week (BBC2), Grumpy Old Men (BBC1), Back In The Day (BBC2), Not Tonight With John Sergeant (BBC2).

DEREK RYAN IN CONCERT WEDNESDAY 9TH NOVEMBER 2016 | 7:30PM TICKETS £22.00 Derek Ryan became a sellout artist in his homeland Ireland and has topped the country’s national charts and the UK iTunes country charts with his albums and singles. ELF THE MUSICAL JR Elf The Musical Jr is based on the 2003 New Line Cinema film starring Will Ferrell. When he discovers the truth, Buddy returns to New York City to discover his true identity and is faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and his stepbrother doesn’t even believe in Santa. The villagers living in the town below the Giant’s house had better watch out, that loo roll has gone bouncing down the hill and straight towards them! Luckily, the townsfolk find lots of uses for runaway loo paper – one sheet provides a huge canvas for an artist, a tailor uses another to fill her shop with paper pants and a school class makes a huge dart that can fly. But what about the Giant himself – doesn’t he need any loo paper? The townspeople have an answer for that, too!

Watch out for some frightened sheep, lots of excited children and a fantastic amount of toilet paper in this rip roaring new musical by TaleGate Theatre Productions.

CONCESSIONS

These vary per performance. Concessions are available for most events if you are under 16 or in full time education, registered disabled, over 60 and in retirement. Group bookings for 10 or more tickets may be entitled to a discount. Please note only one concession is applicable per booking.

POSTAGE

All tickets will be sent by second class post for a charge of ÂŁ1, except those booked seven days or fewer before the performance, which will be held at the Box Office for collection.
