Message from Our Chairman Welcome to our 2019 Winter/Spring season brochure! There’s a plethora of fantastic shows and events for you to enjoy so grab a cuppa, enjoy a browse and plan your nights out for the coming few months.

We’re delighted with the response to our fabulous new café space. Café Carnegie has been in operation since November and is a great place to come and chill out with some fantastic coffee from Bruce and Luke’s or have a cream tea or lovely lunch.

Our beautiful Grade II listed building is available for hire for all kinds of events – if you are planning an anniversary, birthday party, christening or any kind of celebration, why not give us a call and see what we can do for you. Our spaces are also available for meetings, classes, conferences and training. And any catering requirements can be dealt with in house by our team so you just have to relax and enjoy the day.

As our core grant reduces annually, we are ever more reliant on donations and commercially generated income to enable us to preserve and enhance our wonderful community building and ensure we can programme events, classes, workshops and performances for the West Cumbrian community. We continue, as a locally based charity, to develop and improve our services for new generations. We are reliant on our many volunteers to support our core staff team in a variety of areas – stewarding, promotions, administration, box office, maintenance and much more so if you are interested and have some time you could spare us, please please contact boxoffice@carnegietheatre.co.uk for an application form and more information.

Wowing audiences everywhere they go with their amazing vocals, replica costumes and electrifying dance routines, they continue to successfully recreate the magic of Take That with the ‘Greatest Hits Tour 2018.’

The Take That Experience brings you all the classic songs you know and love from the 90’s through to the present, including smash hits ‘Pray’, ‘Relight My Fire’, ‘Patience’, ‘Shine’, ‘These Days’ and ‘Giants’.

The show also features their own “Robbie Williams” who brings alive songs such as ‘Angels’, ‘Rock DJ’ and ‘Candy’ to an already explosive show!

Bye Bye Baby Friday 15th February | 7.30pm Curtain | Tickets £23.50 inclusive of £1 Restoration Levy Bye Bye Baby takes you back in time on a musical journey through the career of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, whose songs graced such films as The Deer Hunter, Dirty Dancing and Grease.

From their early beginnings in the 1950s, when Frankie first joined the group, this show celebrates the greatest hits such as Beggin, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Walk Like A Man, December 63 (Oh What A Night) and of course Bye Bye Baby.

The combination of world-class vocals and harmonies, together with the falsetto heights of Frankie Valli, along with snappy choreography and a vast catalogue of hits makes for a memorable and unforgettable night of nostalgia.

music@Carnegie Limehouse Lizzy Saturday 23rd February | 8pm Doors | Tickets £16.00 standard £18.00 On The Door inclusive of £1 Restoration Levy Limehouse Lizzy continue to keep the spirit of Celtic rock icon Philip Lynott and his band Thin Lizzy alive, well and dominating stages worldwide. The band have also added a tribute into their show to ex-Thin Lizzy guitarist (and world renowned solo artist) Gary Moore.

Joe will be joined on stage with his sensational live band and special guest artist. Come and join Joe as he takes you on a rollercoaster of songs and impressions including Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and his incredible impression of Sammy Davis Jr, all delivered with 100% accuracy!

music@Carnegie Guns or Roses Saturday 2nd March | 8pm Curtain | Tickets £17.00 inclusive of £1 Restoration Levy Guns or Roses, the best Guns N Roses tribute on the planet, deliver the most accurate representation of the original Guns N Roses band in terms of sound, look and energy.

Guns or Roses are widely regarded as the most authentic sounding tribute in the UK and can even boast the very same guitar rig as Slash himself. With signature equipment and custom-made costumes, the band adopt the sound, look and attitude of the original LA legends. A force to be reckoned with, Guns or Roses have to be seen to be believed.

St Patrick’s Day Special Craobh Rua Friday 15th March | 7.30pm Curtain | Tickets £17.00 inclusive of £1 Restoration Levy Join us for our St Patrick’s Celebration with the brilliant Craobh Rua. Craobh Rua (pronounced Crave Roo-Ah) translates from Irish to ‘Red Branch’ and is a name that is well known in Celtic history from the stories of the Red Branch Knights of Ulster.

Hailing from Belfast they perform Irish traditional music with their distinctive northern style. Their music has delighted audiences and earned them wide acclaim and recognition.

Craobh Rua are now regarded around the world as one of the finest ambassadors of Irish traditional music.

Grimethorpe Colliery Band Saturday 16th March | 7.30pm Curtain | Tickets £22.00 inclusive of £1 Restoration Levy Following their sell out date in 2018, the award winning Grimethorpe Colliery Band are returning to Workington! Formed in 1917, during the First World War, Grimethorpe Colliery Band is a British institution. They quickly made a strong reputation amongst the serious die hard AC/DC fans. Dirty DC have always been renown for their heavy stage presence, authenticity and most important the delivery of the music AC/DC has become so famous for. After thrilling audiences at Silloth Beer Festival in 2018, they are now bringing their hardcore AC/DC sound to Workington.

Cannon and Ball bring their own magical and unique brand of humour to the Carnegie in 2019.

Opening the show with 45 minutes of unforgettable “Cannon & Ball” they will perform some of their legendary sketches and routines before the interval.

Tommy and Bobby open Act Two with a song and then into storytelling of their career after which they will open the Mike to the audience for Q & A’s.

Justin Moorhouse: Northern Joker Friday 12th April | 7.30pm Curtain | Tickets £15.00 inclusive of £1 Restoration Levy These days Justin’s not certain about anything apart from his uncertainty – Brexit looms, it appears the Cold War is being rebooted and that’s before we begin to worry about what’s happening in America…..closer to home he’s starting to feel redundant as a parent. One kid is leaving home, the dog is getting older and doesn’t need much walking, and the youngest kid hits thirteen and cancels the family subscription to The Beano.

On top of this the golden age of the Northern straight white male comedian has gone the way of the dinosaurs. How will he adapt if he wants to survive? What next for this Northern Joker? What can he talk to his daughter about now she cares little for Dennis the Menace and the Bash St Kids?

Hang on. Perhaps nothing has changed that much. When he was thirteen, the Russians were scary, the White House was a madhouse and he’d never been to Europe anyhow. We offer the opportunity for young people to come together and make music. Whatever your level of playing or if you are beginner there are lots of opportunities to get involved! You could be part of a Steel Band, learn Samba drumming, play in a keyboards or guitar group. And we are an Arts Award Centre too so you could work towards a Bronze, Silver or Gold Arts award!

The new term starts on Wednesday 9th January at 4.30pm and the centre runs on Wednesday afternoons from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. £30 per term.

Steel Drumming Groups We have spaces on our Steel Drumming Groups on Monday afternoons and Tuesday evenings. £75 for a term of 15 sessions. Limited places available.

Rock & Pop Choir Join our informal and fun singing group on Tuesdays at 6.30pm. £4.50 a session.

Although his political career then came to a humiliating end, losing his seat in May 1997, Michael has since reinvented and endeared himself to many with his obvious respect for the solid workmanship found in the great railways of the world, the effect of the railways on the history of countries and the daily lives of their people. These vary per performance as our agreements with promoters and hirers differ. There may be concessions if you are under 18, in full time education, in receipt of a State Pension or Registered Disabled. Please note only one concession is applicable per ticket.

From 1st September 2018, we will be applying a £1.00 Restoration Levy on all ticket purchases. The income raised from this will be ringfenced and used to maintain and refurbish our beautiful Grade II listed building.

R efunds

We regret that we are unable to give refunds unless the performance is cancelled.

We can exchange valid tickets for upcoming shows for alternative seats or performances. We will make a £1 charge for processing this. This option is not available once a show date has passed.
