HONOR A DOCTORS' DAY

HONOR A DOCTORS’ DAY, IN CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL DOCTORS’ DAY, ENCOURAGES PHYSICIANS AND DENTISTS, AND PROVIDES ADDITIONAL GIFTS FOR THE CAPITAL MEDICAL SOCIETY FOUNDATION By Pam Irwin, CMS Executive Director On March 31, the Capital Medical Society hosted its 20th Celebration Awards Dinner honoring two outstanding physicians selected by their peers for recognition. In reality, the local medical community is full of physicians and dentists deserving of recognition, encouragement, and thanks. The COVID-19 pandemic and its ripple effect of patient and practice challenges places additional strain on physicians and dentists. Words of encouragement mean a lot to physicians and dentists at any time. They are the balm to a weary soul and an inspiration to keep continuing to serve. In late February, and during the entire month of March, the Capital Medical Society Foundation received Honor A Doctors' Day tribute gifts to recognize National Doctors' Day. The tributes encouraged recipients and provided additional funding for the Capital Medical Society Foundation. Grateful patients, colleagues, family members, and friends participated and generously supported the CMSF's programs and initiatives, including the Area of Greatest Need, the We Care Network program, and the We Care Network Endowment. The CMSF is especially appreciative of all donors who gave to celebrate Honor A Doctors' Day. Patients, families, and colleagues are proud to support dedicated physicians and dentists working together to improve health. It is a pleasure to share a few of the many personal words of gratitude that will describe the positive impact these physicians and dentists have in the practice of medicine. We appreciate many of the donors allowing us to share their tributes publicly. Winnifred Adolph honored Nancy Phillips, D.D.S.: “Dr. Phillips is the merry dentist. She and her staff are cheerful, empathetic, and of course professional.” 22 CAP SCAN - A CAPITAL MEDICAL SOCIETY PUBLICATION

She has never failed to treat me for ‘whatever’ expediently, or refer me to a specialist. Many office visits have been followed by a phone call from Nurse Greene. Happy to offer this.” Anonymous honored Dean Watson, M.D.: “For exemplary and exhausting service to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.” Anonymous honored Julia G.
