Automation Spotlight As a woman founder working at the intersection of AI and operations, how do you think nocode and mini-apps can level the playing field for women entrepreneurs who may not have technical teams, big budgets, or automation expertise?

From an operations perspective, this matters because women founders often carry a disproportionate amount of invisible work such as admin, coordination, emotional labor, on top of running the business. Automating even one of those processes can create breathing room, not just efficiency.

A Personal Mission Becomes A Business With Purpose Jenn’s own experience with hormone disruption, including debilitating migraines, PMDD, and perimenopause, as well as her perception that the system wasn't designed with women experiencing difficult transitions in mind, influenced Patterson's decision to pursue a career in women's health entrepreneurship.

According to recent data, many Canadian women over 40 feel unprepared for menopause, and the symptoms of hormonal shift are not well identified or addressed. For example, according to a nationwide survey from the Menopause Foundation of Canada, 54% of women thought menopause was still taboo, and 46% felt unprepared for this period of life.

You began public speaking at just six years old and have been driven by a lifelong passion for education and empowerment. What inspired you to launch Zalik Academy, and how has your own journey as a firstgeneration immigrant shaped your mission to serve diverse families?

I began public speaking at six years old, inspired by my family’s journey as first-generation immigrants. My

parents escaped persecution, arriving in Canada in fight-or-flight mode, seeking peace, harmony, and better opportunities for their children. Their resilience and hope deeply shaped my passion for education and empowerment.

Growing up, my grandmothers, my mom, and the women

in my family raised me and my sisters to be independent, strong, and self-reliant. In a community where women were often taught to depend on men, my family said, “No —you girls are going to be independent, change the world, and show the power of girls.” That belief gave me

Personal Power Pearl Spark Pages began from your own experience with imposter syndrome. What was the moment that inspired you to create the Female Founders Journal, and how did it shape your vision for the brand?

In October 2024, 20 years into my PR career, I was on stage speaking to a room of 150 female founders about how to get visibility. After I got off stage there was applause and some cool clips on Instagram, but what nobody knew was what an absolute fraud I felt like. I’d been struggling with getting PR for myself and for my clients.

felt like I had no place speaking on that topic. And that’s when I realized that I wasn’t the only woman who felt like a fraud, or had repeating negative self-talk. A 2020 KPMG study reported that more than 75% of women leaders experience imposter syndrome at some point in their careers, and I wanted to do something to shift that.

After two decades in publicity helping women-led startups gain visibility, what was the biggest challenge in shifting from service to product-based entrepreneurship, and how did you navigate that change?

Everything was a huge shift - it was doing a complete 180!

PR services through coaching, consulting or agency services, things could be turned around on a dime and the price points were typically in the four- and five-figure range so volume didn’t need to be huge.

Changing to a product-based business, first there’s finding the right manufacturer which can be a whole adventure in itself.

Allocating lead time for product design, manufacturing samples, going into mass production, having products shipped to you, but also getting into shipping products to your customers. And then of course learning to sell in volume - I went from signing retainer clients to selling a $40 product. There are so many things that I’ve had to learn!

Personal Power

The absolute biggest support in navigating the learning curve shifting from service to product was the help of community. The best thing I did in 2024 was join The Entreprenista League, a membership-based community for women founders. The women in that community hopped on calls with me to share insights and save me the learning tax - it helped fastforward the process immensely!

In just a year, Pearl Spark Pages went from an idea to being featured in major stores. What key lessons— about resilience, visibility, or strategy—stood out to you during this rapid journey?

The growth journey has been so quick. It was September 2024 when I had the idea for a guided business journal while I was at the Indigo in Sherway Gardens Mall in Toronto. And then just a little over one year later, in October 2025, I had my first in-store author event at that very same store with my guided journal!

One of my biggest learnings in

this experience has been not to dismiss a spark of an idea. I

could have easily had the idea for a journal, shut it down, and moved on with the day. But I’m so glad I leaned into that

possibility, did the research,

saw the white space and ran with it.

Also, as an only-child, I’m a natural lone wolf. But this last year has absolutely shown me the power of you can go fast alone, but you can go further together. The community of female founders around me are the ones who helped me learn, who supported my crowdfunding campaign to bring the product to life, and they’re the ones who order the product now. Community as a genuine marketing strategy has felt more meaningful than an ad spend.

Personal Power Pearl Spark Pages is about more than just paper— it’s about creating spaces for self-trust and collective support. How do you nurture a sense of community among your customers, and why is this so crucial for women founders?

It’s been so interesting to observe how community is being created through this self-reflective process. I’ve been hosting virtual Journaling for Business Success workshops in different female founder communities where women can go beyond ticking off their next todo task, and actually take an hour for themselves to reflect on their growth and step into their confidence as CEOs. I’m also seeing customers buy a copy for themself and their business besties as an accountability practice.

One woman received a Female Founders Journal as a gift and immediately ordered four the next day to

share with her friends - I loved seeing that. It’s also cool to see business coaches gifting it to their clients

as a tool to support their mindset, and make their jobs

I believe as a community practice, this has been so well-received because we often feel like nobody else thinks ‘Who am I to do this?’ or ‘I’m not good enough’. Threequarters of women business leaders feel that way so there’s community and authenticity in realizing you’re not alone and that we can all benefit from rewriting the stories we tell ourselves and turning self-doubt into self-belief.

For women entrepreneurs struggling with selfdoubt or imposter syndrome, what actionable advice would you offer to help them transform inner dialogue and move forward with authentic confidence?

I loved hearing Skims and Good American CEO Emma Grede say on a podcast (paraphrased) that the most important relationship you have is with yourself, and that you need a daily practice where you speak to yourself kindly that can rewire your inner narrative.

It reinforced why the 180+ unique prompts in the Female Founders Journal are designed very intentionally with two specific frameworks: BRAGS and PEARL.

Your journey spans global brands like Microsoft, Sony, and Kobo before launching Prosh Marketing. What experiences during your corporate career inspired you to start your own venture, and how did you identify the need for a Fractional CMO model to help startups scale efficiently?

I fell in love with startups working at Kobo, at the time, a small company selling ereaders and e-books in an early market.

Watching that company grow was an exciting part of my career and from there, I realized that I wanted to focus my career on helping growing business.

I’ve always had great role models to look up to - women who were driving innovation, change and impact in their careers. Seeing these women break barriers and grow encouraged me to push as hard as I could as well.

Marketing Leadership Confidence came over time and with successes, but so has credibility. By consistently trying to add value to others wherever I can, I’ve been able to build a reputation as someone who has deep expertise in marketing for startups and helps where possible. This has also allowed me to build a community around me that I can count on.

Our approach is a truly integrated and hands-on approach that stretches beyond strategy but also includes implementation guidance and leadership,

Through mentorship, angel investing, and public speaking, you’ve made a point of uplifting women in startups and technology. What advice would you give to emerging female leaders who want to break into leadership roles and create businesses that make a meaningful impact?

My biggest advice for emerging female leaders is that it all starts with your mindset so believe in yourself and go for it.

Secondly, nothing replaces hard work. Consistency and persistence often make the difference.

Stay mission-driven, and keep your “why” at the center of everything you do. When your work is rooted in purpose, it guides your decisions, motivates your team, and attracts

You emphasize empathy and creativity as cornerstones of your business model. How do these qualities influence your decision-making and the way you build relationships with clients, teams, and other entrepreneurs?

Empathy allows me to truly understand the challenges, goals, and pressures my clients and teams face, and not just from a business perspective but from a human one. Ultimately, it helps me tailor solutions that fit their context rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.

Creativity, on the other hand, drives how I approach problem-solving and growth. It pushes me to look beyond conventional marketing playbooks, experiment with new ideas, and find innovative ways to create impact with limited resources which is especially important in the startup world, when there are limited budgets.
