2018 GIVING REPORT

Director’s Report 257 campers and 63 counselors and staff members participated in the Main Idea and Full-Season programs in 2018, joining the warm, passionate and deep Agawam community that has been 100 years in the making. Agawam continues to be the amazing place where boys and young adults become their best selves and make lifelong friendships in a simple, technology free and supportive environment. I am proud to be a part of this remarkable organization, and I look forward not only to our 100th season, but to the many seasons that will follow. Agawam’s 99th year witnessed a number of exciting landmarks:

• Over 100 volunteers gave their time and talent at the Work Day, Main Idea, AG/WAM Challenge, Phonathon, Full-Season

Program, Board Meetings, and beyond. • Your support provided 32 boys (nearly 1/4 of our camper population!) with a total of 27.5 full tuition equivalent Camperships, our largest Campership offering to date, up from 19 in 2013. • We constructed a new Infirmary, thanks to Agawam, My Agawam Campaign donors, complete with updated facilities, increased space and living quarters for two full-time Camp Nurses. • Over 40 alumni volunteers participated the 7th Annual AG/WAM Challenge for Camperships!!, battling their way to $100,000 for Agawam Camperships for the third year in a row. • Participation in the Agawam, My Agawam Campaign surged to 120 alumni, parents and friends who committed over $7,000,000 in gifts and pledges (as of publication, these totals have grown to 156 donors and $8,900,000 raised). • Five alumni and parents joined Agawam’s Hiawatha Society by making a future planned gift commitment. • Overall giving topped $1,400,000, our largest annual total ever. Camp Agawam is governed by Agawam Council, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation formed in 1985 to ensure that Agawam would continue to thrive as a summer camp after the retirement of former Directors and owners, Dave and Peg Mason. The Agawam Council Board of Directors helps oversee the camping programs we provide, and works with “Chief” to ensure an outstanding experience for our campers and staff. The Board is made up of alumni, parents, and friends who volunteer their time to further Agawam’s mission.
