WINE, BEER & SPIRITS BASIC COCKTAILS WITH CURBSIDE PICKUP Brendan O’Toole | Beer Specialist and Spirit Professional

We’ll make different drinks based on different techniques and a different base spirit: vodka, gin, and whiskey. This class includes the ingredients kit including spirits, cordials/mixers, and fruits for making cocktails. You’ll only need basic supplies at home including glassware, shaker/strainer (or a glass with a spoon), and jigger/measuring cup. Tuition includes the ingredients kit. COCKTAILS NIGHT: GIN AND GENDER Alejandra and Daniela | Bartenders

Gin has a long history in America, so do cocktails. Join Alejandra and Daniela, a queer Latinx couple who has bartended for over 10 years and learn how to make 3 delicious gin cocktails step by step. We’ll talk about history and background of each cocktail including the story behind the glassware and how the gender stereotypes influence how the cocktails have been made until today. DRINKING IN COLONIAL AMERICA: HISTORY & TASTING WITH CURBSIDE PICKUP Brian Bixby | Ph.D. in History, UMass Amherst Kris Butler | Exam-Certified Beer Judge

Famine, warfare, pestilential diseases: it is no wonder the European colonists to what became the United States drank a lot! And what they drank shaped their experiences in social, economic, and political terms. We’ll explore how the colonists used rum, cider, beer, and mead to assuage their thirst, while tasting samples ourselves to fully appreciate the history. This class includes a tasting kit. BELGIUM VS GERMANY: BEER HISTORY AND VIRTUAL TASTING Kris Butler | Exam-Certified Beer Judge

Belgium v. Germany. Not a sporting match, but a beer comparison! These neighboring countries have dramatically different brewing traditions. Belgium is known for sweet, full-bodied beers with ingredients like orange peel and dark sugar that “go down like a loaf of bread,” while Germany is known for cold-conditioned crisp beers of limited ingredients and restrained flavor. We’ll talk about the major historical styles from both countries while exploring the influences on their brewing histories, from religion and technical advances to cultural preferences and even geography.
