PRIMARY ALTAR CALLS: THE BLESSED LIFE TERM 4 2017 Hi there! Here’s a brief guide to altar calls, which are an incredible opportunity for the preacher (or the host, after the preacher) to ask kids if they’d like to make Jesus their best friend.

Altar Calls 1. Let the kids know that you’re going to ask if anyone wants to make Jesus their best friend. 2. Explain why, in the context of the message, having Jesus as your best friend is really awesome. 3. Ask everyone to close his or her eyes. Say that on the count of 3, you want everyone who wants to make Jesus their best friend to put their hand up high. 4. Count to 3 and straight away smile at the kids who put up their hands, and invite them to come down to the front to meet you. Tell them how glad you are. 5. Tell them that together you are going to pray. Ask all the kids who are still seated to stretch out their hand to the kids at the front – like they’re giving them extra power. 6. Ask the kids to repeat the salvation prayer after you, line by line (the following is an example – feel free to make it your own): Thank you God for sending your son. Thank you that he died for me; to take away everything that makes me sad; and everything that makes me sick. God, today I choose; to make Jesus my best friend. I choose to follow you; for the rest of my life. Thank you for making me new; for giving me joy; for giving me peace. I love you God. Amen. 7. Congratulate the kids, and then send them off to the side to talk with a leader about what it means to now have Jesus in their hearts.
