As we approach the end of the summer, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the membership and staff for contributing to our Club’s enduring legacy What a Vermont summer we ’ ve had! Our recent events, including the Vermont Amateur Championship, highlighted the exceptional quality of our course amidst weather challenges This was only achievable because of the work that the Greenstaff accomplished throughout the season. Thank you to our superintendent Joe and our Greenstaff!
This summer has been a season filled with exciting social events, outstanding golf tournaments, and remarkable experiences Looking ahead to the next half of the season, we have exciting events lined up such as the Lobster Bake and end-of-season tournaments
As we transition into fall, please join me in welcoming new seasonal staff as we bid farewell to those returning to school Their contributions help ensure our Club continues to thrive
Please make sure you register and join us for the remaining Centennial events on our calendar, the Centennial Painting Unveiling on August 8th, and the Centennial Fireside Chat & Book Unveiling on September 6th. I look forward to celebrating with you as we come together for these special occasions.

A Message from the Dear Members,
President
I am not sure about you, but the summer seems to be flying by and for many reasons, I sure wish it would slow down August still means back to school for Toni and me, although now it is college and high school However, we have exciting events ahead, including, the Centennial Painting unveiling (by artist, and member, Jay Overton), the Fireside Chat with Donald Ross Society President (Brad Becken), and the Boy’s and Girl’s High School Championships, in October!
Following the Centennial Celebration and Vermont Amateur Championship, I've received numerous messages from members expressing joy and satisfaction with this season One long-time member even mentioned a renewed “ sense of pride” in our Club And we ’ re hearing from new members, too, which is equally important and serves to affirm that our strategy is working, our brand is strong, and we need to stick to it.
Maintaining a focus on membership growth is key to moving forward with our goals as a Club. Scott Baldwin (Membership Chair), his committee, Jason Shattie, Aleksa Jenkins, Steve Hosack…all have been collaborating and working hard to not only recruit new members, but to present the very best of what BCC has to offer
Since our December meeting, we have added 43 new members across all categories! As of August 2nd, we have 108 social members, 77 junior golfers between the ages of 16-25 and 431 golfers In just over six months’ time, this is a remarkable increase in count and a trend that is continuing, with new inquiries each day including a recent competitor in the Amateur, who was so impressed, he has applied Additionally, our demographic is skewing younger and appealing to those seeking a long-term commitment In the spirit of back-to-school this success is a report card I am proud to put on the fridge
So, I will close with a thank you to ev out of your way to pass along a positive comme rospective member, offered suggestions for im a new member to join his/her regular game come. This is the Burlington Country Club o

Dear Members,
“It is not a sprint but a marathon” We have the first leg of the marathon, and your membership committee is happy to report that we have had a very robust first leg and believe we are poised, with everyone ’ s help, to continue our membership growth
Thanks to everyone that has helped us bring in 43 new members since January 1 That is almost 10% of our membership WELCOME TO ALL OF OUR NEW MEMBERS We hope your BCC experience has been rewarding and look forward to many years with you at BCC
At our last Membership committee meeting, we discussed assimilating and welcoming our newest members to all the activities the BCC offers and especially how to encourage them to join in tee sheet openings. My challenge is for all of us, long time BCC members as well as our newest members to our great Club, if you see an unfamiliar face or even one that you have “ seen ” before but are not quite sure of their name, stick a hand out and introduce yourself. We are a very small, blessed group of folks as members of BCC and the more we know each other the closer community we will be New members, don’t be shy, jump on that tee sheet in groups that have an opening If you are concerned whether you would fit in with a particular twosome or threesome, ask the Pros they are there to help
NOW is the TIME From now until we go “pins in” this fall, is the time to invite a friend/ neighbor/partner/officemate up to “experience BCC”! Our 100-year-old course has NEVER been in better shape and in my biased opinion we are the number one Club and golfing experience in Vermont Let’s continue to showcase it If you have a potential BCC member in your circle of friends let us know At the risk of repeating myself, we are all Ambassadors of our Club
The best way to manage our financial commitments is to have more members participating and enjoying our GEM of a Club. The marathon is eep building our loyal membership. It has been a fantastic Cen o all those that have made it special.
Cheers,
Scott Baldwin Membership Committee Chair

Dear Members,
Burlington Country Club has been such a special place for me over the years I've had the privilege of serving on various committees like the House Committee, Women's Committee, Centennial Committee, and the BCC Women's Group It's here that I've formed some of my most cherished and long-lasting friendships The community at BCC is filled with people who share a love for the game, each other, and certainly good times!
ed from New Jersey to Vermont, opening What's Your Beef Restaurant, followed by What Ale s You and Jake’s Original Bar and Grill After retiring, I launched Catering by Dale, which allowed me to indulge my passion for creativity Now, I’m exploring painting, a lifelong dream fulfilled with newfound time Family is central to my life; Ed and I have two wonderful sons, Jake and Patrick, their families, and six grandkids
We have so many great times together, and since golf is a family affair, we enjoy some lively rounds on the course as well.
Warmly,
Dale Loeffler
BCC Member Course Record!
On Sunday, July 28th, Michael Walsh, Jr made a remarkable approach shot to the 18th green, followed by a 2-putt birdie that set a new course record! Michael's impressive score of 63 surpassed the previous record by one stroke, which he had previously held jointly with Byron Nelson. His remarkable round was observed by his playing partners: Patrick Walsh, Kevin Cook, and Owen Palmer. Coincidentally, Michael’s father was at our Club that Sunday afternoon and witnessed the final putt on the 18th hole.
Well done, Mike!
Hole-in-one
Brian Shuman, July 2nd

As a dedicated BCC member for 37 years, this is Brian’s very first holein-one The impressive feat was celebrated alongside fellow members Chad Braidwood, Nevin Zablotsky, and Spencer Blackman.
R.T. Farrell, July 17th
A round of applause for R T Farrell, who scored an impressive ACE on hole #14 on July 17th! R T sent a 7 iron straight into the cup from 145 yards His playing partners, Scott Bond, Tim Davidson, and Chris Henry, were there to see the hole-in-one unfold
Chris Echo, July 26th
Kudos to Chris Echo for his spectacular hole-in-one on Friday, July 26th! Chris nailed a 195-yard shot on hole #10 using a 4 hybrid The moment was shared with BCC members Jeff Boliba, Mike Mathon, and Sean Gammon, who were all present to witness the incredible shot

Centennial Committee
Dear Members,
The Centennial year rolls on!
After recovering from the party of the year, we quickly hosted the Vermont Amateur Championship With nearly 50 volunteers from our Club, BCC put on one of best tournaments ever Joe and his crew did an amazing job setting up the course Steve and his staff along with the help of Jim McFadden rolled out the red carpet for the players The finish of the tournament was extremely exciting with a four-person playoff, which included BCC’s own Mike Walsh Jr
For the first time in 25 years BCC won the McCullough Cup. Congratulations to all that participated and a huge thank you to all that volunteered!! Next up is the unveiling of Jay Overton’s painting! The ceremony will be on August 8th. When Jay is not winning golf tournaments in his free time, he is a very accomplished painter. He has been working on this project for the past six months and we can’t wait to see it!!
All the best,

Dear Members,
This season seems to be passing exponentially faster than years ’ past. I'm not sure if that can be attributed to enthusiasm surrounding our Centennial or hosting the Vermont Amateur Championship for the first time in a decade. But it certainly has generated an overall spike in excitement amongst the membership. We can all be proud of the positive impression BCC made on the Vermont Amateur Championship participants. I am certain that we left a lasting impression.
As we approach our Club Championship, a tournament that certainly resonates within our maintenance facility It signifies departure time for our seasonal staff The Greenstaff was amazing this season, and we accomplished some remarkable goals We would like to wish everyone a successful return to school This season ’ s crew was undoubtedly the best group of individuals to spend a summer with We all shared the sense of pride that comes with Burlington Country Club
Looking ahead, we would like to remind you that our agronomic season is just around the corner Please note the dates listed for planning purposes Unfortunately, these events can offer varying amounts of disruption to normal play But the plant/soil health benefits are essential for the 2025 season and beyond
Sincerely,

Dear Members,
It is hard to believe we are halfway through the golf season The course has played well and the reviews from the Vermont Amateur Championship were extremely positive During this portion of the season, we begin noticing routine wear and tear around our Club Please help us continue spreading the message regarding the importance of filling divots, fixing ball marks, and properly raking bunkers
As we continue caring for our course, please also keep in mind the impacts of cart traffic; abide by on-course signage, keep 4-wheels on the path when parking, avoid wet areas, etc. Our Greenstaff spends countless hours preparing the golf course, ensuring that we get the best possible playing conditions each day. Please show your appreciation by doing your part, and maybe even a little more. Friendly reminder to check on your Adopt-A-Hole, how is it looking?
Sincerely,
The Green & Golf Committees

Dear Members,
It’s hard to believe that 3+ months of our golf season has already flown by I hope you ’ ve gotten out to enjoy our beautiful course in whatever capacity suits your game: tournaments, leagues, casual rounds with friends, etc What is most important is that you are out there playing! If you are like me then you are looking forward to more rounds of golf this fall and hopefully planning on taking advantage of what tournaments, events, etc are left on our Golf Calendar
Looking back over the past couple of months, it’s hard to overlook the incredible condition that our Golf Course has been in this season. Leading up to the Vermont Amateur Championship the rough was long and penal. Many of you lamented to our staff and I’m sure your regular foursome anytime your ball wasn’t on the fairway or green. I thought it would be neat to highlight some of the things from that tournament that I found most interesting. After all, we had the best amateur golfers in the state on our course for 3 days. The three easiest holes relative to par in order were 5, 18 and 7 while the four hardest holes were 10, 13, 1 and 12. It probably comes as no surprise that 1, 12 and 13 were up there, but 10 caught me by surprise being ranked as the #1 hardest hole There were 10 eagles during the tournament Nine spread over the par 5s (with two coming from our very own Cam O’Connell and Adam Berger) and one eagle on hole #1
While on the topic, it is certainly worth mentioning that our McCullough Cup Team was victorious this year That team included Michael Walsh, Jr (runner-up), Alex Leonard (8th), Bryan Smith (T-13th), Cam O’Connell (T-13th) and Evan Forrest (T-27th) These 5 individuals teamed up to help BCC win the McCullough Cup for the 25th time, but the first in over 20 years! I’d also like to congratulate the 17 members of our Club who qualified It was a tremendous honor to have our Club so well represented In addition to the 5 members of the McCullough Cup Team we had 3 additional members make the cut: Chaney Noyes (22nd), Cam Saia (39th) and Adam Berger (40th) What I found most inspiring and encouraging was how this group of 17 banded together in the weeks leading up to the event, pushed each other to get better and cheered each other on until the final putt dropped! To me, that is what being a member of our great Club is all about!
We hope to see you all out on the course soon. And as always, if there is everything our Staff can do to make your next round of golf more enjoyable, please don’t hesitate to ask!
Sincerely,
Steve Hosack, PGA Director of Golf

70th Annual MacAndrew Member -Guest Tournament Results
History
In August 1951, BCC held " one of the most memorable weekends in our Club’s history," as described by the Free Press, to honor beloved pro Charlie MacAndrew, who was suffering from a serious stomach illness requiring multiple surgeries. This heartfelt event, which drew pros from across New England, aimed to celebrate MacAndrew despite his declining health. In May 1952, BCC organized a two-day benefit to raise funds for MacAndrew's medical bills, featuring golf, dinners, dances, and exhibitions, with Rutland’s Mae Murray headlining Despite grim medical predictions, MacAndrew managed to tour the course in a cart He passed away three months later at age 46 In his memory, BCC inaugurated the MacAndrew Member-Guest Tournament the following year, a prestigious event that continues to honor his legacy

History BCC Women
The early years of our Club's history were marked by a struggle for equal treatment for female golfers However, trailblazing women like Lillian Laird, the first BCC member to win a USGA title with her victory at the U S Women's Senior Amateur in 1931, and Alice Goss, who clinched BCC's first women ' s state title at Woodstock Golf Club in 1934, paved the way for future generations Dorothy Hill, our Club's first women ' s captain, furthered this progress by helping establish the Vermont State Women's Golf Association
These achievements were pivotal in breaking down barriers for female golfers not just at BCC but across the nation The culmination of this cultural shift was the election of Marcy Gage as our Club's first female president in 1993, solidifying the place of women as integral members and leaders within the BCC community Gage's presidency marked a new era for women at BCC, with increased participation and representation in Club activities and governance.
BCC has continued to be a pioneer in women ' s golf, hosting prestigious events. With a strong female membership and leadership presence, BCC remains committed to fostering an inclusive environment for all golfers Our Club offers various programs and services specifically for women, such as the popular women ' s league, ensuring a supportive and challenging atmosphere for players of all ages and abilities
