Financial Advice for the Self Employed - Whether you are a sole trader or a director of a limited company, Self Employed people are more often than not extremely busy and can neglect their own personal finances whilst concentrating on their business. Self Employed individuals need financial advice as much, if not more than employed individuals. Retirement - Someday you will want to retire, and the sooner you start to think about your pension, the less you will have to save monthly. If you are 35 now, you will be at least 68 before your state pension starts, and this is likely to be below £8000 per year. The only way to bridge the gap or to allow yourself to retire earlier is to plan financially for your retirement. This might include a Pension, an ISA or downsizing from your current property. Making a start in your planning will help. Mortgages - The only income a lender will take into consideration is income you have declared to HMRC. You need to ensure you have 3 years worth of SA302’s, which are income tax documents you can order from HMRC. If you are self employed and are considering taking out a new mortgage you really need to speak to a Mortgage Adviser who can look at the whole of the market. Some lenders are happier with self employed applicants than others. Self certification mortgages no longer exist due to new mortgage regulation. You now have to prove your income AND your outgoings. Insurance - Employed individuals enjoy benefits such as sick pay, death in service benefits, private medical care etc. When you are self employed these disappear, However there are insurances you can pay for to protect yourself in the event of long term illness, critical illness diagnosis and death. We like to put together a financial to do list for newly self employed people. You may not want to replace all of your benefits at once, but you can work through them to make sure you are protected against the unexpected. Roast pork with pears, perry & new potatoes This easy family roast dinner has a wonderful mix of textures, from crunchy crackling to deliciously soft pears.

How to make it
1 Pre-heat the oven to 210C/190C Fan/Gas 6. 2 In a small bowl, mix 1 tbsp of the oil, 1 tsp of the thyme and the garlic to make a paste. Rub on the underside of the pork and set aside.
3 Spread the onion slices over the middle of a large roasting tray to act as a trivet. Top with the pork joint, skin side up, and rub the skin with the sea salt.
4 Cook for 20 minutes before reducing the heat to 160C/140C Fan/Gas 3. Cook for a further 1 hour 30 minutes. Remove from the oven.
5 Toss the baby new potatoes, pear quarters and
remaining thyme in the rest of the oil, and arrange around the pork. Return to the oven for a further 40-50 minutes until the potatoes are cooked and the pears are starting to turn golden.
6 Remove the meat, pears and potatoes from the
pan and set aside, keeping them somewhere warm.
7 To make the gravy, tip any fat out of the roast-
ing tin and place the tin on the hob over a medium heat. Add the perry and bring to the boil, scraping any sticky bits off the bottom of the pan and mashing the onion slices with a wooden spoon. Add the cornflour mixture, stir and allow to reduce slightly before straining the gravy through a sieve to serve with the pork.

Lifestyles MBPTS - Octobers Position of the Month - The Side Lying Leg abduction Welcome to your Octobers Move of the Month. This is a great move that I have started adding in to all of my Fitness Pilates Classes. This is so easy to do at home and really targets those stubborn areas (Love Handles) that we all find hard to tone and shape. Please make sure you are nice and warm before completing these moves and prior to starting any exercise make sure you consult your GP. Position 1 (starting position) Lay on your side on the floor, keeping your hips stacked and your elbow placed directly underneath your shoulder and one leg on top of the other.
Position 2 and 3 Lifting both legs off the floor creates a tension in the top external obliques, whilst both legs are lifted off the floor you can go in to position 3 by taking the top leg higher and then repeating the leg abduction move by placing your top toe to the bottom toe and repeating this move. For general tone and definition its good to repeat the 15 reps by 3 sets or if you feel comfy challenge your self and take it to 20 reps.
