Marching Band & Color Guard Edition

Uniform Volunteers Needed!

getting the right fit takes time & patience

The uniform team needs your help! Please consider stopping by on Saturday for a few hours to help us fit the kids in their uniforms!

Freshman parents, please be patient! We will likely run over the hour time slot that has been designated for your student. New and incoming freshman students have to be fitted from scratch, including head to toe measurements, shoe fittings and finding a uniform that best fits the SPECIFIC STANDARD the directors are looking for while using

what we have left in stock. This takes time! Yes, we know that things don’t necessarily look how you would imagine. It takes some fine tuning and tricks that we have learned over our years of doing this that cannot always be expressed to every person that makes a comment that “this doesn’t fit right.” Please know that we do the very best we can with the limited amount of inventory we have and we take PRIDE in making sure that your child looks their best!

Why Fundraising is So Important for our Band! The Bullard Band and Color Guard isn’t fully funded by Fresno Unified. Bullard Band Backers is a non-profit group specifically dedicated to support this group financially through volunteers. We wouldn’t do the things we do without this support! Each year as costs and our student enrollment numbers increase, our financial budget does the same! It ALL happens through the volunteers and fundraising that BBB does all year long….YES 12 months of fundraising! Because of this support, we offer MANY fundraising opportunities for families to choose from to help support this awesome group that our children participates in! Depending on the fundraiser, percentages of funds raised are credited to each student’s individual fundraising account. There are a few

SMC September Events NEED Volunteers

Lately, we have had a lack of volunteers sign up to work at the Save Mart Center. When this happens, we greatly reduce the amount of money our band and guard program has to operate on this year. It is important to keep this fundraiser since it is a major revenue generator that we count on all year. Our contract with Save Mart Center states we have to provide a minimum amount of volunteers for each event. We have not been able to meet our minimums. Fortunately, SMC has been patient with us, but this is coming at a big price to our program with the lack

of funds generated. We ask that all parents get alcohol trained and those that are PLEASE SIGN UP FOR AT LEAST ONE EVENT each month through January. Time to Get Berrock Orders! Our first baking date is Saturday, October 6th so it’s time to let your family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and teachers know baking day is almost here! Have you heard these are the most delicious Berrocks you will ever eat? Everyone should order a dozen to try them. If you have not eaten berrocks before, they are a yeast dough, pastry pocket sandwich with a savory filling made of cabbage, onions, and ground beef. For this first baking day, we need 36 student and adult volunteers to sign up to work at least part of the day. When we have 36 volunteers sign up (half need to be students and half adults), it is possible that Disneyland gives us up to 10 one day park hopper tickets as part of their new family volunteering program. If we are granted these tickets, they can be auctioned off at our silent auction in the Spring which

means more money for our band and guard program. Volunteers are needed starting early in the morning at Ahwahnee Middle School. Two shifts are available: 6:30 am – 10:30 or 10:30 am – 2:30 pm Each berrock is individually wrapped which makes it great to eat right away or pop in the microwave from the refrigerator or freezer!

Sales are going good so far! It’s no surprise because these books are AWESOME!! SO many great deals inside that the book pays for itself.

See Harriet Tom or Cindy Flores for more information. Harriet Tom 9078167 hctom06@yahoo.com or Cindy Flores at 203-4606 florescindy565@ gmail.com.

See attached for the order form, and hurry because quantities are limited. We usually sell out the first baking day, so get your orders in. Deadline to order is Oct 2.

Berrocks are $25 per dozen. All orders must be picked up and payments must be made no later than the time of pick up on Saturday, October 6. Pay by cash, checks made payable to Bullard Band Backers or online at BullardBand.com/Shop. $10 per dozen goes into your fundraising account as long as you volunteer to help make them. If you cannot make them, you can split your profits with another volunteer who makes them.

Coupon Books on Sale Now!

Every book sold for $25 earns $12 in fundraising credits towards your fundraising goal. Just pre-sell your books, place the order form in your envelope (make sure the student’s name and phone number are on it) and put the envelope in the band safe, or pay online at BullardBand.com/Shop. You can pick up the books on Thursday evening at practice or make arrangements with Harriet or Cindy to get one.

If you would like to help make berrocks and/or have orders to place, make sure to contact Elvia Reyna at 285-6379. A big thank you to Karen Maroot for being our Berrock Mom on baking day.

Thank You Fresno State Volunteers! Bulldog Stadium was full of excitement Saturday night. Bullard Band staffed a food stand, beer stand, and tailgate - all going at once with 30 volunteers working between the three stands. Our food booth was super busy all night taking in almost $11,000 in sales!! This was one of the busiest games we have had. Our beer stand was steady throughout the evening. We did our first tailgate with ESPN radio which was off the charts busy! Thanks to Suzanne Soto, Monica Tavera, Angelica Neveraz, and Michele Sensano for working it. Our next game isn’t until September 29th. There is a Saturday rehearsal that morning, so students who work need to rest up for a long day!

Our wonderful parents worked our beer stand at the first home FSU football game Saturday evening. Pictured are Sandi Lalanne, Jody Ancheta, Danielle Collins, Sharon Fogle, Elvia Reyna, Gary Isgrigg, Deanne Burger, Terri Esparza, and Elena Rubio.

Thank you to our student and parent volunteers who spent Saturday evening staffing a very, very busy stand to make money for their band program! Pictured are: Jazmine Tualla, Adri Sandoval, Leah Casarez, Esteban Reyna, Preston Esparza, Maison Malsbury, Marena Moua, Autumn Garcia, Jou Fang, Matt Spencer, Ben Tualla, Haley Peacock, Vivian Tualla, and Erik Nickell. Not pictured are Suzanne Soto and Lisa Peacock. Great job, everyone!

How to Make Your Payments • Cash, Check, Money Order – place in envelope with student name & reason for payment (Fall Registration, Shoes, Car Wash tickets, etc.) then drop in safe located in band room. • Credit Card through PayPal – go to www. bullardband.com and click “Shop” for more information • Please help us out by writing a separate check for each payment you are making (fundraisers, shoes). The reason is that different fundraising chairs count your money before giving to the treasurer. If you split your check between two fundraisers or registration payments, we have trouble keeping track, and we don’t want to miss your payment!! Thank you for your understanding. • Please make sure funds are available in your account, since fundraising checks may take time to post once the fundraiser is completed.
