How can building products, as well as architecture, be shown to best advantage in photographs? Julius Shulman, one of America's best-known architectural photographers, advises manufac. turers to photograph their products "in action." o'Always photograph a building material in its working environnrent," Shulmah said.
Lumber, for example, should be shown as it is used as a structural member, as flooring or as panelingi and it should be shown ffi' An exhibit of Shulman's work demonstrating the technique he tr. employs in photographing structures and materials is on display at the Building Center, 7933 West 3rd St., Los Angeles, from December 3 through December 31. The Center is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.*.
Over l0O photographs representing a quarter of a century of architectural photography are included in the exhibit. These photogaphs, many of which were taken from Shulman's new hook, Phongraphing Architecture and, Interiors, Whitney Li brary of Design, N.Y., trace the birth and development of modern architectule in the United States.
