A two-month tour by three men representing the Japanese plywood industry to observe the distribution and use in the U. S. of Japanese plywood was brought to a successful close the end of October in Louisville, Ky.The committee of three was comprised of M. W. Iwakura, president of the Japan Plyu'ood Exporters Assn.; T. Kuniyoshi, vice-president of the Japan Plywood Manufacturers Assn., and Y. Ohtomo, chairman of the Japan Plywood Trade Promotional Committee.

The tour, which was coordinated by the Imported Hardwood Plywood Association, fnc., was held in the interests of acquainting the Japanese plywood producers with the distribution methods employed in this country, and with the end use of Japanese plywood and lumber products. With evergrowing competition in practically every line of manufacturing, IHPA also stressed the importance of maintaining the present high standard of production in Japan.

Prior to their departure, the three Japanese representatives noted: "We leave with the impression that our mission in coming to the United States in order to study all phases of selling, distributing and promoting Japanese plywood has been highly successful. The knowledge we have gained in going through various factories, and in being able to sit down and discuss subjects of mutual interest with the members of IHPA in different sections of the United States, shall be taken back to Japan and utilized toward the achievement of better trade relations between the United States and Japan."
