Dubs Breqk Gourse Record During 97lh Tournqmenl
A new course record, thanks to Ernie Pieper's sparkling 67, was registered at the 97th Dubs, Ltd. tournament, October 19, at the Castlewood Golf and Country Club. Host for an excellent day of golf and low scores was Gran Geisert, genial Dubs president. Excluding Pieper's record shattering round, scores for the day went something like this :
First flight, low net, Fred Ziese (80-11-69) ; second low net, Charlie Larsen (79-8-71); and third low net, George Monnier (80-674). Low gross winner of the tournament was Del Travis who racked ap a 77 on the long, flat 18.
In the second flight, it was Lloyd Swiger on top (88-22-6), with a three-way tie for second low net between Art Bond (88-18-70), Paul Gaboury (89-19-70) and Jim Rossman (86-1G70).
Third Flight winner was Bill Johnson with an 85-23-62 tally. Second low net winner was Charlie Beacom (91-34-63) and third low net position was taken by Bill Ingram (92-28-e).
In the guest flight division, a young fellow ( a golfing great of 30 years ago) came out of golfing retirement to show the older boys how it's done: "Doc" White of Christenson Lumber Company, with an 84-20-64 score card, playing his third game after 30 years away from golf !
Dubs will hold the scheduled 98th tournament on November 16, at the San Francisco Golf Club. Dinner will be at Rickey's Red Chimney in Stonestown. In addition to the usual banquet and tournament, the club will also hold a pre-Thanksgiving turkey shoot, sponsored by Daniels & Ross, Roddiscraft Lumber Sales, Cheim Lumber Company, Golden Gate Lumber Company and Bulldog Pallet.
