All Former M&M Operotions Integroted Into Simpson Logging Go. Nov. I
.Thos. F. Gleed, president of the Simpson Timber Company, announced that plants, sales, and timberlands of the former M&M Wood Working Company in Oregon were placed under management of the'Simpson Logging Company on Nov. 1. Simpson's operating program for the Oregon plants will soon be announced to customers and plant communities by C. H. Bacon, Jr., of Shelton, Wash., vicepresident and general manager of the Simpson Logging Company, Gleed added.
Simpson's purchase of M&M, one of the nation's leading plywood and door manufacturers, was completed in August. Oregon plants located in Portland, Albany, Lyons and Idanha have continued normal operating schedules since the sale. Consolidation of Simpson's production at Shelton and McCleary, Wash., with the M&M production will create a monthly capacity of 32 million feet of plywood, 3/S-inch basis, and 160,000 flush and panel doors.
With its Oregon additions, the Simpson organization founded at Shelton, in Mason county, 61 years ago will be operating plants and timber holdings Coastwide for the first time. The parent company, Simpson Timber Company, maintains executive and central staff offices in Seattle. Operating companies include the Simpson Paper Company at Everett, the Simpson Logging Company at Shelton, and the Simpson Redwood Company at Arcata, Calif.
The Simpson organization now embraces 2O plants and offices employing approximately 6,300 people in a dozen
