rnHE 73RD AN\UAL convention of the I International Order of Hoo-Hoo, held in Toronto in mid-september, marked a milestone in the history of this ancient order.

The delegates assembled voted unanimouslv lo amend the by-lans to prolide for (among minor changes): (l) a fourteen-man board o{ directors to streamline the administration of the order, and (2) a $3 raise of the annual dues, designed to cover budget deficits and enable the international office to develop active programs as opposed to housekeeping duties.

Robert "Bob" Holder. 74023, for the past l8 months administrative assistant, was elevated to executive vice president, and thus became in efiect the chief stafi man of the order.

That magnificent man, Ben F. Springer, 34265. who almost single handedly pre' served the order through good times and bad, retired as secretary (executive), but remained on the board as secretary (recording). To cheers, deeply sincere, but none the less long and vociferous, Ben Springer was appointed Supreme Thoth of the order, a unique position peculiarly suitable to this dedicated servant, whose election as a Hoo'Hoo Immortal was thwarted by the untimely death, shortly before the convention. of the last surviving member o{ this group-Ormie Lance, 36511-thus closing the gates of this Im' mortal Garden.

The order elected an energetic slate of officers. whose dedication and belief in the great possibilities that Hoo-Hoo affiliation offers its members. leads us to believe that this ancient order will arise to take its proper place as catalyst to draw all segments of our lumber industry together for better understanding. cooperation and progress towards our common goals.

Our salute and best wishes to the following newly elected officer-. of Hoo-Hoo: Chairman, John G. Hickey. 60300; Snark of the Universe, Glenn W. Ross. 45275;
