Club Helps Lumber Gol

For several years members of Los Angeles Hoo-Hoo-Ette Club No. I have been helping Irene Ridgeway, former lumber gal, sell ,Christmas cards. By sale of these cards, and other original paintings by Irene, she can be self-supporting.

You see, there is something special about Irene. In 1948, an attack of polio left her

2222 WATT without the use of her arms and legs. Occu' pational therapy encouraged her to try painting by holding the brush in her mouth. For many months she worked pa' tiently every day to gain the control needed to produce fine detail and expertly-shaded coloring. The unusual quality of her work must be viewed to be appreciated.

For a number of years Irene worked at the old Western Hardwood Lumber Co. and later for W. E. Cooper at the retail yard on Pico Blvd.

Mildred Dutton is chairwoman o{ the Hoo-Hoo-Ette committee to help lrene this year. You may write directly to Irene
