Clubs Tour Plont
The mysteries and methods of manufacturing component parts for rnultiple industry uses was graphically and graciously explained to Los Angeles Hoo.Hoo-Ette clubs I and 6 by George Frederickson on a Weyerhaeuser plant tour he recently conducted for the clubs.
The tour, part of an expanding schedule o{ outside club activities, was also attended by Gil Bissell of Summerbell Structures and John Seernayer of RinshedMason Cornpany. Their wives are active in club activities.
The two southland lumber sororities have collaborated in the past to put together dual functions
New Code Monoger
George Whittier, A.I.A., has been named manager of buiiding codes and specifica' tions for the Western Wood Products Association.
Vhittier, 55, received his professional training at the University of Minnesota and has practiced architecture in Portland since 1938. He has served a term as a member of the State Board of Architect Examiners. and has been an officer o{ the Portland chapter of A.I.A.
Whittier was a Lt. Col., Artillery, in the Aleutian and Philippine campaigns.
A resident of Lake Oswego, he begins his new duties immediatelv.
Dry Kiln Instolled
A double-track lumber dry kiln, 34 leet wide x BB feet long was installed this fall by Exeter Lumber Sales Company of Longview, Washington.
The dry kiln was furnished by Moore Dry Kiln Company of Oregon, and was erected on Port of Longview property.

A joint control room and boiler room was constructed with the kiln.
Temperature and humidity inside the kiln is automatically controlled and recorded by a Moore dual dry bulb 2-end control instrument. This instrument enables the dry kiln operator to preset drying schedules.
Eleven 72" diameter steel bladed fans provide the necessary air circulation for uni{ormly drying the lumber. Othei equipment includes special prefabricated center coils, thermostatic steam traps and a complete fan duct system.
Weyerhoeuser Appointed VP
The appointment of George H. Weyerhaeuser as executive vice president-operations of W'eyerhaeuser Co. was announced recently by Norton Clapp, president.
Weyerhaeuser has served as executive vice presiderrt for wood products, timber and lands since 1961.
Doors Inc. Open House
The staff and management of Doors, Incorporated welcomed several hundred cus' tomers and suppliers to an open house on October 9, at the newly completed Doors, Inc. warehouse at 44I Log"ue Avenue, Mountain View.
The brand new structure incorporates the latest in handling techniques and is nearly three times, the size of the company's old warehouse at 133 South San Antonio Rd. in Mountain View.
Chuck Kessling is the manager of the new warehouse and is very optimistic about its successful future.
