The present production schedule calls for 1000 doors per shift, which is about 50/o of. capacity, according to Strait. This figure does not include the new Strait Glide-AFold Wardrobe Doors, a new product which the company is going into production on immediately. Har-Vey SlideA-Fold harclwaqe will"be,,uoed exclusiv-ely in the new unit, which will provide a definite need in the building industry, Strait declared. This brand new product has many uses such as room dividers, screening sections, linen closets, etc., and is in great demand, he continued.

For the past four years, Charlie Strait has been vicepresident and general sales manager for the Ostling Manufacturing Co., also in El Monte, California. Since last March, when he acquired the Davies Door Company plant, he has been devoting all of his time to develop this new concern. All of the employes of the Davies organization were retained and today more than 30 people are working in production and sales, according to Strait.

"We now carry an inventory in excess of 15,000 doors for the trade. The doors are available in all standard sizes and finishes, which assur€s immediate delivery," Strait said.

Charlie Strait is one of the pioneers of the flush door industry in Southern California. It was he who introduced rotary-cut Philippine Mahogany doors in this area over eight years ago. He also is credited with the first importation from Japan to California of plyr,vood cut to door sizes. He started his door-manufacturing career in Manila at the close of World War II when he was released from a prisoner-of-war camp in the Far East. He has been identified in the lumber and wood products manufacturing industry for the past 10 years, and prior to that time was engaged in the importing and exporting business in the Orient.
