Arcata-Korbel area were a visit to the former M and I\I plywood plant at Eureka, the Arcata re-manufacturing plant, demonstration of falling a ten-foot redwood on the north fork of the Mad River operations; bucking, skidding, loading, hauling and forest management for perpetual yield, and the sawmill operations at Korbel.
Some of the party departed directly from llureka for other destinations in the west, the principal party returning to San Francisco by chartered buses on Saturday, with a stop at the Asti Winery of the Italian Swiss Colony for a tour and souvenir gift.
This is the first visit of Hoo-Hoo International to the San Francisco area since 1910 and the sponsorship of the "Lumber Hospitality llouse" at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition of 1915. All agree that one of the highlights of the current convention was the "post-convention tour to the Redwood Region."
Wesf Side Deolers to Meet
The West Side Lumbermen's Group of the Southern California Retail Lumber Assn. will hold a dinner meeting October 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Brand's restaurant, Mar Vista. The committee selected to arrange and conduct the meeting is W. J. Beuchel, chairman; Hal Brown, Tom Fox. R. E. Haddock, Tom Mills and Lloyd Olson. A fine program is arranged and all area dealers were urged to attend this first group meeting of the season. Visiting dealers are welcome to attend.
