Bernard J. Vaughn, Union Lumber Co., Fort Bragg, was elected president of the Redwood Region Conservation Council at the RRCC annual meeting in Eureka, January 25.

Officers elected to serve with him by the conservation group included: Alfred H. Merrill, Georgia-Pacific Corp., Trinidad, vice president; Sero Maffia, Bank of America, Eureka, treasurer; and Virginia Burke, Santa Rosa, secretary.

The council elected four members to serve three-year terms on the RRCC Board of Directors, Ncvrly elected directors are: Eugene Ho{sted, Arcata Redwood Co., Arcata; J. E. Pickett, I7olf Creek Logging Co., Arcata; Roy Wagner, Masonite Corp., Ukiah. Re-elected to serve another three years as director is Norman B, Livermore, Jr., The Pacific Lumber Co., San Francisco.

Delegates to the mt'eting, including {orest industry officials, educators, members of State and Federal forest agencies heard reports on activities carried out by RRCC during 1962.

Treasurer's report was given at the meeting by Eugene Pickett, Wolf Creek

Logging Co., Arcata, retiring treasurer. Fred Landenberger gave the secretary's report during which he showed the members a new fire prevention film, ooPrevent Forest Fires," developed during 1962 and released to the audio-visual departments of the region schools.

Committee reports were delivered by the following: Membership and Finance Committee: Bernard J. Vaughn, Union Lumber Co., Fort Bragg; Education and Training Committee: Dr. Sidney E. McGaw, Bureau of Industrial Education, Oakland; Fire Prevention Committee: Bernard Agrons, Rockport Redwood Co., Westport; and the Junior Logging Conference Committee report was given by Larry McCollum, The Pacific Lumber Co., Scotia, for JLC Chairman Ted Carlson of TPLCo., Scotia.

Resolutions on RRCC activities were prepared by Alfred H. Merrill, vice president of RRCC. Members adopted resolutions thanking cooperating agencies for their active cooperation and wise counsel during 1962 programs. Resolutions were adopted thanking individuals, service clubs. newspapers and radio-TV stations of the region for their active support and participation in forest fire prevention, conservation education, and other RCC activities. Resolutions were adopted expressinpr RRCC's appreciation for the cooperation and support of those individuals who helped make the Junior Iogging Conference self-sustaining through tleir Senior Sponsor contributions, and far-sighted individuals and companies who generously supported the RRCC College Forestry Scholarship Fund during 1962.

Over 100 persons attended the evening banquet which climaxed the day's activities. During the evening program Bernard Vaughn, newly elected president, presented Roy Wagner, retiring president, with an inscribed desk-pen set in recognition of his leadership of RRCC over the past two years.

Paul Aurignac, prominent Monterel' County rancher and meinber of the State Bqard of Forestry, keynote speaker of the evening banquet, reported, as a member of the California delegation of ranchers and farmers, on a good-will tour the delegation made behind the Iron Curtain last September.
