Lqnd Use Insfitute Urged

A National Land Use Institute has been advocated by both a public official and a private industry spokesman as a means towards better public understanding of the U. S. land base and its relationship to the public interest.

Milton A. Pearl. director of the Public Land Law Review Com' mission, and Mortimer B. Doyle, outgoing executive vp. of Na' tional Forest Products Association, both said joint participation by government, land-using industries, and communications media in such organizations would improve public understanding of land use matters and influence evolution of a sound national land use policy.

WWMM Elects New Officers

Election of officers and several new directors highlighted the annual meeting of Western Wood Moulding & Millwork Pro' ducers at San Francisco, Calif.

Elected president was Robert Donnelly, president of Contact Lumber Co., Portland, Ore. He succeeded T. J. Hedrick, Conti' nental Moulding Co., Orange, Calif.

Elected vice president was Robert Whittier, Whittier Moulding Co., Redmond, Ore. Jack Hawley, Diamond National Corp.. Chico, Calif., was elected treasurer and W'arren C. Jimerson, Portland, Ore., was re-elected as executive vice president.

New directors are Jim Gotcher, Kaibab Lumber Co.. Phoenix, Ariz.; George Mackin, Oregon Lumber and Moulding Co., Portland, Ore.; Neil Hagen, Nikkel Lumber Co., Sacramento, Calif.; and Arthur Semans, Semans Moulding Co., Marysville, Calif.

New PGL Evereft Focility

The Palmer G. Lewis Co., Inc., Northwest and Alaska building materials distributor has selected South Everett. Wash.. as the location for a new warehouse, according to R. D. Peterson, president of the Lewis Co.

The warehouse and office building will have 21,000 sq. ft. of war-ehouse, plus 24,000 sq. ft. of surfaced outside area. The target date for the opening is November 15.

The Everett facility will be the ninth warehouse branch for the Seattle-based Palmer G. Lewis Company. Other branches are in Auburn, Bremerton, Kenmore, Lacey, Seattle, Spokane, Wenatchr:e and Anchorage, Alaska.
