Robert E. Canton, president of National-American Wholesale Lumber Association, emphasized the benefits of intra-industry relations to 145 WWPA and NAWLA lumbermen at a champagne breakfast held during the Western Wood Products Association's annual meeting in San Francisco.

Canton stated that, while champagne was felt by some to be a reflection of market conditions in early 1969, the present business activity clearly did not justify this image in 1970. 'oThe producermarketer relationship is vital regardless to the Ievel of the market."

Briefly he developed the thoughts behind the National-American intra-industry relations program which has been growing over the past several years. He said, 'olt is NAWLA's belief that, if we provide increased opportunities for dialogue between the producer and marketer of forest products, both segments of the industry will benefit."

Spenard Builders Supply of Anchorage, Alaska, has been awarded the Retailer-o{-the-Year plaque in the building materials dealers category of the 22nd annual Brand Name Retailer-of-t}eYear awards competition, sponsored by Brand Names Foundation, for outstanding brand name retail merchandising. They were nominated by Masonite Corp.

Brand Names Foundation was formed in 1943 with the objective of maintaining and strengthening brand competition. With so much staked on brand identities, according to the foundation, maintaining consistent quality and correctly anticipating consumers' tastes and requirements is essential.
