ANOTHER P.O. VICTIM
Gentlemen: I was interested in your January editorial referred to as "We're Fed Up".
Along that line you will be interested to know that I purchased a camera which immediately began to malfunction so I mailed it back to the factory. It was insured for several hundred dollars and was subsequently lost in the mails. I thereupon requested the postal department to send out a tracer and was informed several weeks later they were not only unable to send out a tracer but would not paY for any claim unless a sales receipt was produced.
How dumb! How many insured packages are backed up with sales receipts? Particularly if the item has been given previously as a gift or the owner has thrown away the sales receipt, etc. How many people insuring packages retain their sales slips? It's ridiculous. Further, how easy to dummy up a receipt or make uP Your very own Mastercharge receiPt or equal.
Of further interest was my conversation with the Postmaster wherein he was unable to show me any written information as to the limits of the insurance. On the other hand the government stifles business with all the vast quantities of information it must pass on to its customers regarding all facets of each and every sale.
Best regards,

What also concerns me is that, are we making the same adjustments in our business lives? The water we waste in our offices and factories is no less valuable and no less wasted merely because it is industrial.
Conserving water from automatic landscaping sprinklers, faulty plumbing, and unattended running water in industrial business parks and offices is no less our responsibility as business citizens as conserving the same resource at home.
We can not and must not separate these two parts of our lives.
My answer to mY boY was that we will never run out of anything we don't waste.

On Wasting Water
The front page of this morning's L. A. Times has a lead banner "STATE ORDERS 60% CUT IN FARM WATER", which painfully reminds me of an incident last evening at home. I was watching a news program when my six year old boy came up and asked, "Daddy, will we have enough water to live?".
Certainly we all hope and pray the drought will break soon. We are being made aware of the adjustments we will have to make in our personal lives in order to conserve our most precious water resources.
